You have my sympathies as I know how you must be feeling. I had an abnormal smear so had to go through a biopsy and stuff. The cells were not cancerous but I had them removed anyway as a precaution. Thinking of you *hugs*
I hope the doctor manages to put your mind at rest.
Take care xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
I was examined by my Doctor this afternoon at 4pm. She confirmed a lump was present in my left breast. She told me I will receive an appointment sometime in the next two weeks. She said in a lot of cases it is not cancer but she seemed pretty keen on getting me to have tests. I obviously kept asking her is I have cancer and all she could tell me was I will have a fluid sample taken and also a ultra sound scan over the next two weeks. I don't know what to do. I have just had to tell the Norwich Union about this - as they were providing mortgage protection insurance on our new cottage which we take posession of on 14th September. They informed me that the Underwriters will need to wait until I have test results, then they will write to Doctors asking for confirmation of test results etc. seems they have 'mysteriously' lost our signed declarations that were posted last week. Woman told me they prob will cancel the insurance. Hubby got very angry and told them to stuff the insurance, he would get a sole policy from someone else. He has been holding my hand and telling me it's just a cyst this past hour. I wish I could believe him~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0

Hi Ember
I know nothing anyone says will stop you worrying but try and focus on the statistics, it is 9 times more likely to be benign than not, and there are people to talk to if you need to,
government guidelines state that
...everyone with suspected cancer will be able to see a specialist within two weeks of their GP deciding that they need to be seen urgently and requesting an appointment. These arrangements were guaranteed for everyone with suspected breast cancer from April 1999.
so if you have not had an appointment through the post by Wed get back onto your GP and pester him,

Just remember theres an 80% chance that this is just a plain old cyst or fibroadenoma....a benign lump. Waiting till you have all the tests, then the results is just the pits. A bit of advice...... do not go researching too deeply about this on the internet. Wait and see what the tests results show.
Big hugs to you!

Been reading this today and waiting for news like the others. Easier said than done I know, but try to keep positive.
I agree with Liverbird, the internet is a great tool until you start to use it for winding yourself up. Sometimes too much information is as bad as not enough.
As the others have said, the chances of it being benign are much, much higher than it being anything else. Those are bloody good odds so try not to worry too much.
Be thinking of you.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Much love, Ember.
So glad you have your lovely hubby by your side to reassure you xxxxxx"By not unsettling men, you will reassure them. By unsettling men either through timidity or malice, you are always compelled to keep a knife in hand." - Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-15270 -
Really feel for you, it happened to me a few years ago, my appt came through and it was a 6 wk wait, I lost my morals and was seen privately the next day. Luckily it was a cyst but the fear of worse is hard to bear. Hope you can put it behind you soon.0
