I called the number from the SP website today 08000275812
I also have just signed up to the 2011 fix.

The prices 'Scott' qouted me were:
    Electric - 17.306 (to 225KWh per q)
    9.475 thereafter
    Gas - 4.19 (to 1143KWh per q)
    2.69 thereafter

I'm currently with Eon on a variable and I've spent most of this afternoon doing web comparisons. Of course the SP offer hasn't been showing up as it's supposedly being removed! I only discovered this tariff because I decided to check the good old MSE forums before making any final decision.

For what it's worth I had 3 choices for a capped rate (including SP)
    a) Stick with Eon (cap to 10/09) - 27% extra tariff
    b) Go to NPower (cap to 12/10) - 36% extra tariff
    c) Go to Sc Pow (cap to a 02/11) - 20% extra

To be honest I was seriously considering the switch to NPower but was horrified at the size of the increase so I'm really chuffed to have discovered the SP option late in the day as it's almost halved my potential increase.

Incidentally 'Scott' told me that the deal was no longer available online as it was 'ending soon' but it was still available over the phone.

Hope this is of help and thanks for all your help

I am on SP Online Energy Saver 4.

    My annual usage is:

    Gas 4359kwh - £142 and Elec 2755kwh - £290 (prices according to ukpower.co.uk)

I am not an expert on this and usually all I do is call SP and ask if i'm still on the cheapest tariff or not.

The Question is should I go for the Fixed Price Energy Online tariff or not as it is still available for existing customers??

And if so how much more will it cost me, and do I go for the above one or the Fixed Price Energy Online No Standing Charge??

    Many Thanks

Can someone please help me with the above before this tariff gets removed!!

I just phoned Scottish Power and asked to transfer to 2011 fix from British Gas but they said the offer was withdrawn on Friday? Can only existing customers transfer to this tariff now or am I missing something?

I switched about 10 days ago and have had my confirmation letter. However it will take about another 6 weeks to go through (I gather this is normal). If they pull the fixed price tariff in the near future will I still get the benefit of it if that happens before the switch is effective.

Sorry if this is a stupid question - I've never switched before (I know, I know, and me a member of the site for at least a couple of years)

I think the answer is in the short term this tarriff may be more expensive than the one you're on BUT with energy prices set to increase by a forcasted 30% in the summer you are likely to save in the long term.

I went for the no standing order option.

I am still confused about the whole thing and don't no whether to go for standing or no standing charge. I am currently on no standing charge with the tariff i'm on. Can I have some more help please??

Unless you are a very low user there normally is little difference.

A low summer user(or at any time) will be better off with no standing tariff.

You need to know your consumption in kWh to work it out exactly.

Then you simply take the daily standing charge x 365 and add it to your consumption in kWh x the price per kWH.

    You compare that with:

    A. The number of Tier1 units(kWh) x kWh price(for tier 1

    Plus

    B. The number of tier 2 kWhs you will use x the kWh price.

It is not a stupid question, please don't think that, everyone has a right to ask if they are not sure.
Once you have your confirmation letter you can be certain you will get the fixed price tariff,no matter how long it takes.I should imagine it will be a little longer than usual as there was obviously quite a rush once people knew how much prices would be going up before too long.
I too am moving over, and it was a wrench as i am more than happy with Atlantic but so far they have refused to do a fixed price offer and i fear they will lose customers,as will other companies if they don't come up with similar deals.

Thank you very much for reassuring me, Froglet, I do appreciate it ,especially as DH was suggesting it was a lot of hassle and probably wasn't worth it. Since then BG have suggested they will raise prices by 30% and that was before all those power stations started conkng out which according to ThisisMoney has raised the spot price and the long term futures price for electricty qute significantly
