    Ah thanks Deanos ...
so it looks like I wont get onto the fixed deal online and their application helpline is now closed.
Really should take opportunities without pondering too much next time I guess.

    Hi,

I hope as many as possible of you got on to the Fixed Price 2011. For those who didn't dont worry about it too much. E-on's price protection 2009 looks ok at the moment and doesn't seem that different in price.

Yes its two years less but you can always re-access your options come September 2009??

As none of the comparison/cashback sites were showing up the Fixed Price product when entering my details, I called Scottish Power this morning on 0800 400200 and have signed up for the fixed price no service charge online dual fuel product. Have set up the direct debits with them and they are sending me the paperwork with a view to transferring me in the next 6-8 weeks.

Fingers crossed I am in time to get the price fixed. I'm currently with Atlantic Electric & Gas paying £44/month for gas and £56/month for electricity in the Eastern region. I haven't done the maths yet. So no cashback for me and I know it will cost me more with the fixed deal, but wanted to stave off price rises this winter and beyond.
    :D

I guess, everybody is like me, I was told I will pay £10 extra with fixed price but this should make up for it if the gas prices increases in the future. I am still debating what to do, electricity seems to be more expensive with eastern and I use about 10 units a day. Guess do not have much time to make up my mind. Thanks

See this article in last weeks Sundays Times.

    http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/economics/article3952431.ece

"Malinowski recommends Scottish Power's Fixed Price Energy Online 2011. It offers protection until February 28, 2011, and costs, on average, about £979 a year for dual fuel. However, this deal is expected to be withdrawn early next week"

Existing Scottish Power customer and switched to fixed price 2011 today over the phone!

I've been told that the rates will be the same as I'm already paying with a £3 per month extra surcharge. Bargain! :D

Just called SP as no email confirming application had been received since applying 15th May for the father in law, but had received an email confirmation for my switch, and queried whether it was to do with the fxd 2011 being pulled, but was advised that you can still call and apply - its only pulled from the website. Was advised that account is setup, and correspondence sent via the post .

Does anyone have details of the SP fixed 2011 with standing charge? I was going to run some scenarios and see if it was worth it (costs 20% more than npower, so I wanted to see what various price rises would do to my first year costs). But now I can't get details of it.

Go to Energyhelpline.com and enter your current tariff as Scottish Power Fixed Price Energy. When you get the comparison click on "View your current tariff details" at the top of the page.
