Did I hear him right when he told me it would be £3/minute during week day days?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Just to point out that the posts warning about Phorm are rather off-topic, as this thread is about getting a BT phone line installed, not BT broadband. You can have a BT phone line and get broadband from any of the numerous ADSL broadband providers.0

If you're on BT's Unlimited Weekend Plan, calls of up to 60 minutes to UK 01*, 02 or 03 numbers made at the weekend are inclusive in the price you pay.
If you're on BT's Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan, calls of up to 60 minutes to UK 01*, 02 or 03 numbers made in the evening or at the weekend are inclusive in the price you pay.
If you're on BT's Unlimited Anytime Plan, calls of up to 60 minutes to UK 01*, 02 or 03 numbers made at any time are inclusive in the price you pay.
* Excluding calls to the Channel Islands.
Thanks for explaining that. I'm on the Unlimited Weekend Plan, so I'll try and make the 10 calls/month required as part of this cheap installation offer at the weekend, when they won't cost me anything0 -
Just got the £29.99 deal he did think it had finished but after saying it had been extended he did a quick check and said fine no problems, so they are coming on the 8th. Interestingly he said that that you only had to make 1 chargeable (ie mobile/0845 type numbers) call a month not 10 like before, but cannot see anything to confirm this.0

Get that confirmed.
The offer states 10 "inclusive" or chargeable calls. So your guy may be misleading you on 2 counts!0 -
Just confirmed with another adviser Leah who also stated 1 a month.but have to wait for official written confirmation .0

Its 2 a month,6 a quarter on a normal 12 month contract,so its unlikely to be less then this.
The T&C for the 18 month contract are very clear, so i would be careful unless you get in writing.
Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or chargeable inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.

Just to advise people that I had my line installed on 25th July and I've just received the first bill which is due to take £65.24 by DD on 11 August.
This is for the £29.99 installation and £35.25 for the first 3 months line rental at £11.75/month.
I don't mind paying £11.75 for the first month's rental as I expected and wanted a paper bill but I planned to change to paperless billing after that and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a refund for the extra £1.25/month for the 2nd and 3rd months.
The information leaflet with the bill does say "this bill covers either your quarterly or monthly charges, depending on which billing option you've chosen" but I was never asked. I have been trying to get through today to ask about changing to monthly billing but I got bored hanging on and nobody rang-back after I selected that option, so I'll have to try again tomorrow.
Mind you, Virgin didn't make me regret leaving them by sending me a bill today dated 24th July charging me line rental from then till 24th August, despite disconnecting me on the 25th July. When I finally managed to get through to someone who could talk some sense, they told me that I'd have to wait till the end of August for the next bill to get it refunded!0 -
Hi everyone :cheesy:
Thanks for the info. I called BT as I'm in the process of moving into a new build which needs a line activated or installed. The guy didn't know about this offer so, thanks to this site, I informed him. I asked to be put on the £11.75 direct debit monthly line and the contract is for 18 months.
1. The gentleman didn't mention anything about number of calls per month. What happens if you don't make 10 calls per month?
2. I called sky about joining them for talk, surf and tv and they said I had to go with bt for line rental and then call them for talk and tv.
Thanks. :cheesy:0 -
