The deal is open to all. - ordered mine yesterday. They said however they'll charge the full £125 and refund the £95 over the contract

hmmm-- i was told it was for customers transferring from virgin media... was told that 125 could be spread over 6 months thiugh.

have decided to try again tomorrow, even thiugh the custom service guy put me on hold, and presumably checked with a colleage/supervisor. Still will try and try again...

Yes, keep trying until you find one who can actually read (there's no mention of such a thing in BT notice 25/08).

Better still, ask the operator who says such a thing to specify where in the notice that 'condition' is mentioned.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

True, but it does say 'for eligible residential customers' ... anything can be meant by that!

But I will be trying again ;)

Update They agreed to the 29.99 connection charge :) the 'trick' seems to be not to speak with a sales customer advisor, but with customer services. The glitch was that I will be probably (99% sure) be moving within the 18 months, and if the new place is not on the same exchange then I would be in breach of contract/have to disconnect then I would owe what is left on the contract. So it MAY end up costing me more.

    :'(

I should be moving home soon and I checked to see if I would have to pay anything to move. They took my new postcode to be and said it would be free of charge!!!!

I just hope I get the same news once I am ready to move!

When moving to a new property if it has has had a BT phone service in the recent past and the line still has a dialling tone, it should not cost you anything to get your line working again .

Can anyone explain what "inclusive" calls covers?
