Can anyone explain what "inclusive" calls covers?
If you're on BT's Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan, calls of up to 60 minutes to UK 01*, 02 or 03 numbers made in the evening or at the weekend are inclusive in the price you pay.
If you're on BT's Unlimited Anytime Plan, calls of up to 60 minutes to UK 01*, 02 or 03 numbers made at any time are inclusive in the price you pay.
* Excluding calls to the Channel Islands.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Just doing this just now ...
Got through to an english guy who said 'i know all about it' and he's away processing as i type this...
[cheers Tom@BT if you read MSE!]0 -
As of today BT are still doing the £29.99 connection - see Quentin's post with notice no. 25/08 - phoned just now and went through fine, the lady knew all about it. However, tried a couple of weeks ago and had to battle quite hard whilst quoting the notice to them. They tried "That's only for ex cable customers" and you just have to keep on saying "Where does it say that?" until they relent. In the end couldn't do it that day anyway as new flat and they didn't have the address in their system yet, like I say have just got off the phone and all gone through no probs. MANY MANY thanks to the posters on this thread that's £95 saved straight away, fantastic!0

Hi - what is the best phone number to get this offer on?
Having to pay the connection fee even though last residents were with BT - only moved out a day before we moved in and we still have a dial tone. According to BT because it is in the system to disconnect it - it counts as being disconnected. £125 seems like a rip off £30 is a bit more palatable.
Incredibly during the epic of trying to get this sorted was told the £125 was an admin fee as there is a lot of paper-work!!!!0 -
EDIT: BT have extended this offer to the 30 September 2008.
BT are offering to install new lines for £29.99 until the end of June 2008 - as long as you agree to an 18 month contract with them.
Full details are here but it basically says:
Regards
Sunil
if you have BT broadband they want to monitor ALL of your web browsing to target adverts to you and make them(BT) a load of cash, the issue is the company providing the behavioral target software is a company called phorm who used to be called 121media and have roots in spyware and root kits
virgin media and talk talk are also evaluating the technology as is sky, orange and one other i can't remember
if yo want to find out more, goto https://nodpi.org or google phorm webwise
i got stuck with an 18 month contract and have another 6 months to sit it out or buy my contract out, i would never trust BT again

Hi there,
I needed a new Bt line in the house I'm moving into. I recently phoned Sky to order Sky HDtv, Sky bb and Sky talk.
The person from Sky told me they would send me a form to fill in and they would pay a full subsidy of the £125 cost of getting a new Bt line installed.0 -

No wonder Sky subscriptions are so high.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Received first bill from BT since using this off, they havent applied the discount. The bill stands at £226 which is obviously ridiculous anyone else had problems?
Tried calling on 150 and it's cutting off when i press 5 to speak to someone0 -
Not surprising that they have extended the offer. I should think people are put off joining or staying with BT Broadband due to the Phorm Webwise system they seem intent on switching on.
In case you don't know what it is, it's a bit like the post man opening all your letters before putting them through your door - so he can see what you are interested in... then what he does is, he gets paid by local businesses to put their junk mail through to your house instead of the stuff you would have got.
Quite clever. They watch what you do, then make money out of selling adverts directed to you because they know what you are using the internet for (holiday booking, insurance buying, films or your hobbies etc)
Yes. Quite clever. But a bid creepy. That's why BT ran trials of this type of system in 2006 and 2007. Surely against the law! Well even some people in our Government and in the House Of Lords think so... but not enough people are aware of what happened. Still, at least you know now. Still want that bargain connection to the internet with BT?
See: Wikipedia for more on Phorm (you might read on the web that Phorm edited out some facts abou them, but we caught them at it, and they stopped doing it)
See also: Google "121Media" (Phorm's previous company name - they wrote software people call "Adware" or "Spyware" and Norton AntiVirus and F-Secure AntiVirus wrote routines to help PC owners remove it)
See also: www.noDPI.corg (DPI is "Deep Packet Inspection" - this is what BT want to do using Phorm's Webwise system)
They're turning us into merchandise - selling our privacy to the highest bidder who wants to advertise to us. Not nice. And it should be stopped.
So, bargain broadband from our big ISPs comes at a price (BT, Virgin Media and Carphone Warehouse Talk Talk... Only BT is saying they are about to launch this but the others do have "agreements" with Phorm)
There are ISPs who will not launch a Phorm partnership system.
Not trying to scare anyone, but we all deserve to know what they are up to.
(You can see Emma Sanderson from BT on the BBC or Channel 4 news saying that it is true, they ran trials of this technology without telling customers in 2006 and 2007 - the video is from April 3rd 2008 I think - on channel 4 website with John Snow the news presenter)0 -
I just signed up for a new line. The man new exactly what offer I was talkign about. They will install the line at 8am on Friday 15th August - a bit longer than I was hopeing but I shouldn't grumble! I got the evening and weekend tarriff. Did I hear him right when he told me it would be £3/minute during week day days?!?! He had a strong accent. Surely I heard that wrong!0
