Or more likely you should ring BT back again - it is valid for new installs as well, especially given the cable customer line that some BTR CS are trying to pull - if I was a cable customer then I wouldn't (necessarily) have a BT line installed either.0

When using this offer as bt are at present offering free evening and weekend calls free thrown in at the same price as just the weekend plan can we still get it installed for £29.95 with the free evening and weekend plan at the £10.50 the same?
At the moment we already have an installation booked but was thinking about cancelling to rebook under this offer would this be possible?
The reason it was booked in the first place was because sky offered to credit the installation charge back if we signed up to the sky+ package.
It was a choice between sky+, broadband and calls with the credit back or o2 with bt line no tv and no credit back. Actually the price for 12 months was £19 more for sky on the 8mb bb to match o2 even though they were crediting back the bt line but of course the tv was included.
After thinking about it we could either stay with the sky install and get the sky+ free for 12 months then switch to o2 which would be cheaper without the tv but keep sky+ box but this would mean another 12 months contract with o2 and as its a rented house didnt want to risk another 12 months contract in case of moving again.
So then thought it may be better to start with o2 now without the tv and then not have to have another 12 months contract after the first 12 months, only problem was the installation fee so was wondering if its possible to cancel the sky, get the £30 installation fee back they have taken already when ordering (how successfull would this be?) and cancel the bt instal to book again under this offer.
Could this be done and what do I say when calling bt after the original order is cancelled? What number do I ring and what would I ask for? Just a bit concerned that they might refuse to put the order in when I've cancelledThanx

You can choose which call plan you want (cheapest is the weekend calls @ £10.50).
No reason why you can't cancel and start again - though obviously not at the same time!
Tell them you want the £29.99 offer please!0 -
A few months ago, I had Tiscali close down my service, as I was so unhappy with it. I did not switch to another provider though, and when I rang BT they wanted the huge connection charge. Seeing as this offer is chiefly to reclaim people moving back from cable, will that equally apply to former Tiscali people like myself, who had a telephone line, but which is currently inactive?:undecided0

I don't think they check, just say you were. A friend of mine was told it was for cable only, she said well I was cable in my last property and they went no problem and installed it for her. Cable is not actually available in her new property.0 -
I did this offer today and said that I was moving from one BT house to another and I wanted that offer and it was fine. No mention of cable at all!
Good Luck!Matched Betting Profit- £815!:j0 -
I read Martin's write up last week re BT's special offer of getting a telephone line 'installed or reconnected for £29.99' and advised my stepson, who relied totally on his mobile, that now was the time to get a landline installed.
He contacted BT who told him quite categorically that as there was no landline in the property its installation would cost him £125. He argued that this was not stated anywhere, but BT remained resolute. They said they were not reponsible for the 'misinformation' on other websites!
Indeed when I subsequently scanned notice 25/08 I can't see the word 'installation' anywhere, only 'line connection'. So whilst I have little or no regard for BT's generally confused customer staff, it seems this time they have got it right. Perhaps Martin should remove the word 'installed' from his blurb?
A friend of mine had the line "installed" under this offer.0 -
I placed an order with BT on the 8th Sep 08 only after confirming that I would get the line installation for £29.99 - It only took 4 phone calls and about 2 hours. Work done 15th Sep. Bill received today £124.99 - only another 3 phone calls to resolve? First call the person I spoke to hung up on me. Second call, the third person I spoke to was for BT Broadband. the second person had put me on hold then into the Broadband queue. At this point I was given 0800 022 3089 as the Direct number to call. 3rd call, no pass the buck, spoke to supervisor and put onto correct tarriff (25/08) as originally requested.
Next issue - they wanted to take the original Bill ammount as Direct Debit and then credit me with the £95 Discount on the next Bill. This would only take about 8 months to claw back. Hopefully resolved without an adverse cashflow or making non Direct Debit payment and incurring a payment processing fee (for a problem they initiated).
Over the 18 months of the contract I reckon I'll save about £30 compared to an alternative supplier. Given the time, hassle and anxt taken to date, is it really worth it? I'll have to wait upto a fortnight to see if they really have sorted it out!0 -
OK, I still have no phone line, so this seems the best bet for me as the main reason is I didn't want to pay this fee but £29.99 seems OK.
A couple of questions, can I sign up to this and just go for the lowest line rental of £10.50 and then add broadband say in a month or 2?
Or can I get this deal if I sign up to either option 1 or option 2 of the Broadband deal.
Help appreciated.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
