Great Cheapest Freeview Box Hunt

Warning to anyone thinking of getting a Freeview box from Comet or Argos. If you are in a situation where you have friends who live close to you like I have and your friends post code and your own post code both come up on the Freeview site as not being available top receive digital, but your friend has Freeview and works perfectly and you want to get a box, don't get one from Comet or Argos to try as they won't take it back. I don't know about Tesco yet but I do know that Currys will take back a box that won't receive digital. Maybe someoene can tell me if Tesco will take back a box that will not recieve digital and any other retailers.0

As regards to taking the thing back if you can't get reception (or good reception) - The tuners in some boxes can be more sensitive than others. I had one box that struggled to get anything on a set-top aerial, I swapped it over to a newer box and it got all the channels without a problem. You could always take back a box and say that your existing box had no trouble with reception and so the newly purchased box is at fault.
Of course all these set-top-boxes have faults of one description or another, I've yet to have a digital receiver (whether terrestrial or satellite) that hasn't "hung" or crashed. That seems a good reason to take it back, after all no shops inform you of this when you're purchasing them!
BTW I didn't choose my signature and I have no idea where it came from (FWIW I hate it)0 -

Argos in Lancaster is doing a freeview box in a sale for £27.99 I think. Go to your local store and look for the sale sheet they do next to the catologues. I believe it was Sagem or Goodmans, cant remember.

Kays lifestyle are doing one for £39.99. I know that's not the cheapest but you get 20 weeks credit.I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)0

Just bought the Wharfedale £34.99 from Argos, and impressed with it. Only snag is I can't get Sky News / Sky Sports News so i'll replace the aerial. Interactive is lightning fast on it, and the remote is simple and easy to use. I like the 'delete channel' feature too.0

I live in Northern Ireland and am able to receive all the UK channels plus a number of the channels broadcast from the Republic of Ireland. (RTE)
For sometime now I've been considering going Freeview but need some tech help in choosing the box.
I neeed help because while the UK broadcast on UHF my signal from the Republic of Ireland comes through via VHF and therefore if I hook my tv upto a freeview box I will loose my RTE signal.
I have read somewhere that there is a soloution and that is to get a digibox with a loop through signal (or someting of that nature).
Have any readers ever come across this kind of box. I'd greatly appreciate any assistance.
