Great Cheapest Freeview Box Hunt

When I subscribed to Sky four years ago, I thought the basic package was good value for money, Since then, the price per month has crept up and the quality has gone down, so I have decided to kick it into touch.
Because the dish and box are now mine, I have just bought a £20 one off card which gives me access to 120 free TV channels and 80 Radio channels with no monthly fee. It's called FreeSat and it gives me all the channels I normally watch nowadays anyway. There's a few rubbish channels as usual but hey, what do you expect for nothing!
For anyone with a Sky dish and box and want to drop the monthly commitment, this could be the answer.
There is also a alternative box at this address http://www.satalogue.com/section1/page5.htm
which will give you the channels available.

Hi
Still plenty Echostar T101 Plus boxes for £39.99 at Woolworths in Stafford. Bought one yesterday but can't pick up ITV stations. I have a "BBC2" aerial hanging in the loft with a booster that's working fine for all anologue stations incl Ch5. Can anyone recommend a better aerial if that's what I need?

Found a Panasonic TU-CT20 Freeview box for £29.99 at a shop near me, called Hyperfi, in Barking - http://www.hyperfi.co.uk/8726Page6.pdf
I don't know if they do mail order, so this info might only be useful if you live in East London/Essex and can physically go there, but check out the site anyway.
I live nearby so off I trotted. Told the guy that I wanted a £30 freeview box. Ahhh he said "We did have them at £29.99 but those were in damaged boxes, I've got them them in perfect boxes for £65." I went to walk away and he offered it to me for £45. A very good price for this model. Cheapest I'd found on the net was £75.0 -
Two weeks ago I bought a Bush freeview box. Got it home and couldn't get it to work even replacing the battery in the remote.
Not wanting to trek back to return it that day as it is a Christmas present for my daughter and I wanted to get it set up whilst she wasn't around,I went to Woolworths, having read about the Echostar T101. I bought it at £44.99.
The indoor aerial we had, although a good one, just didn't pick up a lot of the channels. I tried the digibox out on my main TV with external aerial and tuned it into all the channels. When I reverted back to the set with the indoor aerial it held most of those signals. It wasn't quite as good as I wanted so bought a loft aerial from Maplins which was about 12.99 - now works brilliantly.
Fantastic quality picture, dead easy to set up - I reckon it is pretty idiot proof! I also noticed that Woolies had reduced the price by £5 so rang them and they gave me a refund. I am sure there may be some sets slightly cheaper but for quality and ease of use this is great.0 -
I bought a top-up tv box last week from Dixons but it won't work at all - can't find any channels at all. Does anyone know if they will take it back, I've opened the envelope with the top-up card in it?

After trying to get the Phillips on offer at Dixon's (out of stock naturally) I've just bought the Echostar from Woolies.
Have to say that I recommend it as an idiot proof set up... Took me about 10mins to get all the wires up & running & hey presto! I have [glow=red,2,300]QVC[/glow]
Only problem now (apart from placing my credit card in protective custody) is that I can't get reception from the normal tv. Can get all channels off the digibox... but now worried that I was too smug too soon.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

The "freesat" card can be obtained from http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/ although if you have sky already your existing card will provide the same service, even when you cancel.0

Hello Lorrs58
I think you can only get the freesat card if you ring up. I tried to order on the net but couldnt, they were very good though, answered quickly, (0870 no alternative) and I received card 2 days later!!0
