Actually, I know it's a bit off-track, but can anyone help me find the least expensive DVD/VCR Combi - just need it to play dvds and play/record videos - don't need to record dvds. The cheapest I've found so far is £79.55 for an L.G. DVC8700, on https://www.empiredirect.co.uk. Is there anything cheaper out there?0

This might disappoint earlier posters to this thread who have just bought the Echostar T101 from Argos at £44.??, but Woolies and the Big W have the new "PLUS" variant of this model which has the 8-Day programme guide for £39.99.
Just been to Woolies in North Shields, they're now priced at £44.99 >:(:eek:0 -
Does anyone know how to record from the Echostar T101 without the tv being on?
I tried it last night and have 2 1/2 hours of black screen. Or have I wired it up wrong - which is entirely possible!!!
Thanks

Rang Woolies customer services 01706 862789 and quoted the SKU code 270019830 (for the Echostar T101) , the nice gent told me the price is still £39.99 ,he even told me of local stores where they are in stock.:eek:0 -
I've just read this entire thread and decided that the Boots technosonic ( and as an added bonus of triple points) was the best bet for my partners 73 year old dad. I've gone to the boots website and it isn't there ???
Does anyone know if they still have them?0 -
Found a Panasonic TU-CT20 Freeview box for £29.99 at a shop near me, called Hyperfi, in Barking - http://www.hyperfi.co.uk/8726Page6.pdf
I don't know if they do mail order, so this info might only be useful if you live in East London/Essex and can physically go there, but check out the site anyway.
They definitely DO do mail order - I bought a car stereo from them a year or so back by mail order.
They managed to send me someone else's invoice (with their credit card details on too) which wasn't too bright. I expect mine went to someone else too - doh!0 -
Can I use the sky box to get the freeview channels? ???
You absolutely must have a correctly aligned dish to use a Sky Digital box. You will get most of the channels that are on the freeview service for free with such a setup.chop the plug off the end of the cable from the NTL box, fit a normal aerial plug and plug it into the back of your TV/video etc.
or if you're even less adventurous, you can get F-connector (the cable connection) to belling-lee (telly connection) adaptors at Maplins part no QP42Vnot sure if we have recpetion here?!
How can I find out whether I can receive it or not?!
The only way to be sure is to borrow someones for a couple of hours. I think surely some enterprising independent shop should start lending them out for a deposit equal to the full cost of a box?0 -

Boots have sold out on line, as I bought one and wanted another as a gift - but some larger stores still have them in stock.
Dont forget triple points this weekend.Josey0 -
Back to basics here am afraid...
Would LOVE to buy a freeview box for my bloke this xmas, but not sure if we have recpetion here?!
Have been on the postcode checker-thing, but have been told it doesn't get updated....?
How can I find out whether I can receive it or not?!
Help!!!
Initially I tried 'Freeview' site but that just said it wasn't available in our area.
Have you tried, dtg.org.uk?
From 'Consumers' enter postcode, on next page click on 'Detailed Postcode Checker For Installers & Retailers', (on right side of page,) enter postcode again & it'll tell you what channels you can get.
Hope this helps.FAIRTRADE NOT FREE TRADE
