Yes Moliere, it's really sticky but the "sausage" will firm up in the fridge. I can't take the credit for the fifteens. They're a common traybake in Northern Ireland.
Welcome Fi27.
Housework is done and I'm going to put This Morning on while I do some filing.Tea is prepped (stuffed rolled lamb breast) and I need to make some more of Thriftlady's fabulous rolls. A bit damp here so the washing need to be hung up in the kitchen but I appear to have jiggerred my neck/shoulder/back/arm so I'll leave it for OH.
Take care all.

Sooooooooooooo know how you feel. DS is nearly 15 and was such a kind, loving wee mummies boy and now a horendous, nighmare of a teenager. The terrible twos were nothing compared to the temper tantrums  he throws now. He drives me to distraction sometimes and as hard as i try to stay calm and not react it is really hard
He seems to think i am his personal assistant/servant/cash point and refuses to do any chores because he 'just doesnt like doing housework' He also comes down the stairs at 7.30am with black sunglasses  on which infuriates me even more. He must think he's some superstar or sommat or that the paparazzi are waiting outside! He tripped over his school bag the other morning and i had to stifle a giggle :rotfl: :rotfl: obviously couldnt see clearly LOL
He threw a wobbler last week because i asked him to put his crisps and juice in his pack lunch box (he usualy swaps everything i put in anyway) but because i put everything in my OH's lunch box and even put the lid on, apparently that means i love OH more than i love my son (silly boy) and he shouted at me that he hates me and cant wait till he's 16 and can go and live with his grandma :j oops i mean
I told him why wait till you're 16 just go now, you can pack your things when you get home. He stormed off to school and came home a different child
I think sometimes you have to call their bluff a bit and i have always found it doesnt help to get into a power struggle. Dont pick a battle you know you wont/cant win. And get them where it hurts ie up coming school trip for which i did not give my permission for him to go. Furious  he was but i explained the reasons why not and stuck to them. He had to accept it eventually when he realised i wasnt going to give in.
Ha, a battle i COULD win
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone
Fi
Had a tussle ourselves on Monday that we weren't used to....I sit here hoping that I was never like this.....not sure I dare ask my mum the truth....
It generally boiled down to....I'm not happy with what you decide, how you parent and the ways things are....
"OK, our rules or leave." He has his Dad or Nana that are options....
"I can't."
"Why?"
"I need stuff from here...."
etc....left it for the evening and tempers cooled to the point where he realised that the grass was actually quite green here after all.....For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Hello Fi :hello:
((((AnnieB)))
Pouring with rain today so will wait to put WM on.
DH is taking me to Lidl for lot of bread flour, veg etc. later this morning.
DD has asked for more of the lentil soup tonight so might have to hide the leftovers from DH!
Need to check on the size of knitting needles I want to knit preemie hats and get them later.
No idea what to cook tonight but have peppers and mushrooms to use up so maybe a curry.
DH is getting fed up of me muttering every time the price of some food item goes up!
I even find stuff has gone up in Lidl but I still get more for our money than anywhere else.
Wish the better weather would arrive as I am freezing.
Hugs to all
Nice to hear Martyn sounding chirpy."This site is addictive!"

Morning everyone!
Annie - glad to hear that things were ok yesterday, or at least not too horrendous.
To those with teenagers - got 2 here and the other 2 seem to think they are! Love the story about the dark glasses! Mine are generally pretty good, but then they know that if I threaten something I always do it! And having four children it's not nice to be the one left out of a treat when the others are all being taken - yep I have a heart of stone! They all do chores, cos if they don't they don't get any money or taken anywhere! Besides they eat and make a mess, so I can't see why they shouldn't help tidy.
Had a lovely curry last night with friends, one of our group has gone to live in Oz and was visiting, so it was nice to catch up. Still feel like I'm going to pop though, perhaps eating so many hobnobs wasn't a good idea yesterday!
Got BM going, think it's the only machine used more than the WM, DW emptied and reloaded, SC full of chicken in honey and mustard sauce, kitchen mopped, floors hoovered. 3 oldest are off school and girls have opted to tidy the sitting room and sort out clean washing into piles, and ds has offered to finish off my lavender beds for me with his mate, after they've been to sort out his mates pigs and chickens - doing something with the runs and pens apparently. dd3 is at school, not impressed that she was the only one going!
Once jobs are done I'm taking girls and 2 of dd2's friends into town - dd2 is trying to wangle some extra money or an advance on her allowance, not going to happen, I told her not to buy tat when she was given this month's money, but did she listen?! Never to early to learn to budget!
Horrible and wet here, so friend not measuring up for my decking, pah! Will have to do it next week. Looking forward to having it done for the summer though.
Hope everyone has a lovely day. xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning all
Gosh is it really 10.53 already? I've been sat at my desk at work now since 9 and I've done b*gger all! Oops must come off internet and start doing something!! Got tomorrow off so really must try and clear my piles of paperwork before leaving off this evening.
Looks like it's quite bright outside at the mo, not sure for how long though.
I am so peased I am not the only one with a DS teenager problem. DS1 will be 15 in August and he used to be such a nice child, but now he has the biggest chip on his shoulder I'm surprised he can stand up! I now take priveledges away from him, like a week without computer access, or a week without playstation access and such like. He won't do chores around the house unless he is bribed so I bribe him with things like breakfast, lunch and tea! Evil mother I know, but it seems to slowly be working. His current phase is not eating breakfast claims he's not hungry in the mornings.
Tea tonight is lamb chops for DH (only 2 left in freezer) and some chicken for the rest of us (me, DS1 & DS2) with mash and beans.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -
Morning :hello:
anniebooklover - I am pleased that it went as well as could be expected - my thoughts were with you yesterday. Coincidentally, I ran into a friend yesterday who I was at university with, who told me that an old friend of ours has also just lost a newborn baby
Happy anniversary to the ronankfans
Hugs and get-well wishes to all those who are ill.
Well I had a lovely day yesterday. I took the afternoon off work to go to the semi-final of a major competition for young professional opera singers. I go to hear it every year as it is always entertaining to listen to and fun to talent-spot the stars of the future. By the end of the first half I was losing the will to live, as the standard was really not high. However there were some really good people in the second half, including a girl I know and have sung with. She has been put through to the final and I would say she stands a pretty good chance of at least second place. The final is tomorrow evening.
I ran into an old flatmate who I haven't sen for YEARS, so it was good to catch up.
I had a ticket for something else in the evening, so as the weather had turned from grim to absolutely gorgeous, I decided to walk through Hyde Park rather than getting the bus. The Serpentine looked stunning in the sun - I took a couple of pics on my phone, which I might upload and post links later.
I've got my ballet class this evening
Anyway, onto OS matters, last night I made THE most fantastic basic white loaf in my new Panasonic BM. I did a wholewheat one the previous day which came out badly, however that was my fault, I think - I'm sure the flour had been in the cupboard since, ooooh, Roman times, or something . Lesson learnt!
Other than the bread, I haven't done any cooking at all this week. I feel a batch of Twink's hobnobs coming on (in actual fact I am under strong pressure from my colleagues to bring some in) so will do that tonight, along with the courgette risotto I meant to do on Tuesday (and would have done, if it hadn't been for my mega bargain haul in Asda which kept me out later than I had intended!)
I am also trying to work out the best way to maximise the (limited) storage space in my kitchen. I am trying to find some adhesive hooks (for tea-towels) and an adhesive kitchen roll dispenser to stick to the cupboard doors (if such things exist) plus I have a bit of wall which isn't being used, and as long as I don't inhibit the opening of the fridge and freezer, I'd like to have a big wall-mounted spice rack and some hooks for pans etc. I was originally going to have a cork notice board up there, until I realised that's what fridges and magnets are for
Anyway I have rambled on for quite long enough now! See you all later.
Love Rzl xx :wave:Operation Get in Shape

Ruthibe, you did make me smile, I also bribe mine with meals! If they think they can do better elsewhere they're welcome to go! Does make me laugh when some of their friends look horrified that they have to help clear the dinner table and load the dishwasher, still they seem to keep coming back - wonder if I should get the loo brush and bleach out and hand that over and see if we still get so many visitors! I take away telly, pooter and playstatike ion too, and have been known to refuse to pay out for school trips and stuff! Oh I really am an ogre! My ds doesn't eat breakfast, but he tends to eat before bed instead - he doesn't seem like he's wasting away, he now happily pats me on the head - I was yelling at him the other day and he offered to get me a stool so I didn't hurt my neck looking up at him!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

Re: the dreaded teenager! My DS1 was great as a baby, a toddler and a teenager bar the very occasional blow-out. DS2 was a completely different matter. He was born with a teenager's hormones and nearly drove me round the bend. I finally turned him around one day, when he was 16, the usual taxi-service-at-short-notice-even-if-I'm-whacked-out-from-a-stressful-day-at-work (anything for a quiet life); not content with having a lift that was REALLY inconvenient for me, he proceeded to moan about everything throughout the journey which was to collect his friend then drive them back home again. As soon as he got out of the car and shut the door, I just took off! I could see him in the rear-view mirror standing there with his mouth wide open and I completely ignored him. I kept thinking I would turn back and pick him up but I didn't. It was about four miles from home and he had no bus fare or any other way of getting back. By the time he got home, minus the friend who was too scared to come back with him!) he was exhausted but he at least said sorry. He then bought himself a moped which filled me with justified fear when he came off it after six weeks and nearly snapped a finger off. Fortunately, that put him off bikes and he saved and saved to take his driving test and get a car as soon as he was 17. He's 26 now and completely different. I had to ask him for a lift once when my car was being serviced and he said 'I can hardly say no, can I, after what I put you through'!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
