Enjoy the wildlife group Martyn, we always manage to see deer in the forest when we are down there. Mind you, I watched a programme that said Wareham is the snake capital of England, and they showed a guy going around the forest lifting bits of corrugated metal, looking for adders

I'm always really careful where I tread now :D

Hi everyone and (((hugs))) to all the poorly ones and those in pain or going through other traumas.

ANNIEB - many (((hugs))) to you and your family; she won't be forgotten, ever. We still remember my sister's 'lost' daughter and she would have been 33 this year. I feel so much for you all because I can remember clearly when it happened to our family.

POOKY - she WILL grow out of it, I promise! It must be a shock considering she's always been good.

METHERER - (((Hugs))) to your DH.

Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs RONAN!

BETHEEBEE - you've been really busy. How lovely that it's going to be a surprise for your SIL!

Well, I've made two batches of cakes and Haribo's 'fifteens'. Haribo - are you supposed to get into the most dreadful sticky mess trying to roll the mixture into a sausage shape?! Because I did; mind you, that's not difficult for me at the best of times! The mixture looks delicious.

I've also washed the kitchen floor, spot-cleaned the dining room carpet, cleaned the bathroom and hung the washing upstairs on the airer. After what looked like a promising start, the heavens opened for about an hour so I couldn't peg it out.

I just have a bit of paperwork to do and then I shall catch up on some knitting until I collect DGD from school at 3.15.

    Anyway, will catch up later.

Morning All, welcome to all the Newbies.

Hugs to the poorlies and those with poorly DHs.

Am sat at work, boss not in til lunch time so am looking out for the ducklings, they went from 17 on Monday to 11 yesterday. Not sure what is getting them though.

Casserole (in slow cooker) and h/m bread for dinner, all complete. Woke up to the smell of lovely fresh bread but I think I have a bad batch of flour as it just isn't rising as it should, I know it's not the yeast as I have used it before and I have just opened the flour. Any ideas on what to use the flour for if no good for bread??

Have some ironing to do tonight, and as dinner is already prepared I have no excuse!

Well better get on with some work (or make a cup of tea)!!

Hugs to Smokey, PenPin, AnnieBL and anyone else who would like one.

    Hi everyone,

Was up at 3am as I couldn't sleep. Youngest had nightmares and general chaos....then slept in a bit...

Braved the garden yesterday and, having pulled down some ivy that had been bugging me for months, got to grips with sector A of the lawn....I call it lawn but grass patch after the hens have had it is more appropriate...

Very wet outside so well done Mrs B for encouraging me to get the lawnmower out.

Pleased at last that the media have cottoned on to the fact that the stuff we buy week on week to feed our loved ones is getting ridiculously expensive and the real rate of inflation should not really include ipods and plasma screen TVs and mobile phones as we don't buy these on a regular basis.

Tea last night was Tesco value frozen mixed veg curry with some vegetarian beefy chunks...limited take up from the younger element but we're working on this...

Tonight could be beans on toast...plus a couple of fresh from the garden eggs....

Hugs to all who'd like them and a productive day all round...
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

    Morning all

DD1 is driving me scatty - she's not an official teenager until November but my god she's well practiced at it.......I'm trying to be calm and unemotional about it but it's failing me at every turn. She's not doing anything major but as she's always been so good and kind and considerate, it's really hitting hard that she's a moody little mare :D I get to do it all again in a couple of years too :j

Sooooooooooooo know how you feel. DS is nearly 15 and was such a kind, loving wee mummies boy and now a horendous, nighmare of a teenager. The terrible twos were nothing compared to the temper tantrums  he throws now. He drives me to distraction sometimes and as hard as i try to stay calm and not react it is really hard :o He seems to think i am his personal assistant/servant/cash point and refuses to do any chores because he 'just doesnt like doing housework' He also comes down the stairs at 7.30am with black sunglasses  on which infuriates me even more. He must think he's some superstar or sommat or that the paparazzi are waiting outside! He tripped over his school bag the other morning and i had to stifle a giggle :rotfl: :rotfl: obviously couldnt see clearly LOL

He threw a wobbler last week because i asked him to put his crisps and juice in his pack lunch box (he usualy swaps everything i put in anyway) but because i put everything in my OH's lunch box and even put the lid on, apparently that means i love OH more than i love my son (silly boy) and he shouted at me that he hates me and cant wait till he's 16 and can go and live with his grandma :j oops i mean

I told him why wait till you're 16 just go now, you can pack your things when you get home. He stormed off to school and came home a different child ;)

I think sometimes you have to call their bluff a bit and i have always found it doesnt help to get into a power struggle. Dont pick a battle you know you wont/cant win. And get them where it hurts ie up coming school trip for which i did not give my permission for him to go. Furious  he was but i explained the reasons why not and stuck to them. He had to accept it eventually when he realised i wasnt going to give in.

Ha, a battle i COULD win

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

  • Morning all :)

(((hugs))) to anyone who needs them today

DD isn't at school either because of the strike so obviously its pouring down rather than being nice like it has been for the last couple of days  Think i might take her next door to my mams and we can do some baking, can't do it here because OH is working, he only had to do one night away this week so he's back home now [strike]getting under my feet[/strike] in the bosom of the family ;)

I need to make my meal plan and shopping list today, clean the bathroom and then just the normal stuff like making beds etc. I'm trying to do a bit each day to keep on top of things rather than rushing around doing anything and everything then suffering for it later.

Have started buying DD's summer clothes (early i know and god knows what kind of summer we'll get) on Ebay and have got some really good bargains. Last night i got a BNWT next summer dress, really pretty for £8 inc p&p (tag says £18) :) We've got a few weddings and christenings this year so she'll need something pretty but i refuse to pay full price for something she'll wear a handful of times. When shes done with it i'll re-sell and put the money towards the next thing she needs.

Anyway, enough of me rambling, have a good day all :)
