The first DFW meet was in Blackpool.

I'm quite new here and haven't seen these mentioned before- where are the relevant threads usually?

I would be up for a North West meet up but that would involve petrol to drive there which isn't in my budget so won't happen!:D

And following on from the golf posts, I wondered today if our local park still had the crazy golf. I wandered down at lunch time and not only do they still have it but there is a local crazy golf club based there. Apparently they play at various local courses and generally act as a social club. It is FREE to join and more than half the members are my sort of age so I shall have to give that a try. :T

    Evening all!
There are lots of places to find book clubs- local libraries and bookshops are good places to start.

Oh right thankyou. I just had never seen any for some reason.

I doubt I would have but I was specifically looking for one- asking around wherever I could!

Have you people gone to any MSE meet-ups?

There was a mini-one in Dorset about three months ago.... so mini in fact that it was just me, my two boys, a girl, her son and another lady. Six of us and three of them were under eights.... . A few people were planning to come along but pulled out through unavioidable circumstances late on....

Sounds good Jen, maybe I should do that as I do like reading. How did you find out where a group in your area was?

Riq - I have no idea where Blackburn is. I am an ignorant Londoner who thinks anywhere above Oxford is too far North.:p

    Hi,

I asked at the local library and they pointed me towards the library website where there was a full list of book groups in the county, along with meeting times and the co-ordinators telephone number.

Riq - I used to live in Darwen so I know Blackburn well.

11k - think Ewood Park and Thwaites brewery.

Good old Darwen, I used to work at the Natwest in town (no booing please!) during the uni holidays. It's were I was trained and therefore look at it as my home branch! :D It's got a very strange one way system in the centre of town!

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!
