Meeting new people with little or no money - Is it possible??

hi,
This is such a good thread...
Im mid-twenties too and seem to have lost many of my friends and im not sure how to make new ones now.
I have previously tried WW, but as you say it was all married women who were much older than me and the gym (which I enjoy) were all too focused on getting their workout than chatting. They dont hold socials. The classes all seem to be attended by groups of people who dont want to chat to the loner.
I even joined a cult book club at the library but since we only meet once a month there doesnt seem to be much scope there for awhile at least.

cult book club you say? Never tried that, may have to investigate. Although I am not a fan of reading to be honest I doubt my attention would be kept!
I know what you mean about the classes and there being groups, almost cliques in there.I got into a clique, took me two years and only because I dropped a weight and almost broke my arm!
You're from Preston too, looks like me and you are the only Northerner's here, everyone else seems to be Bristol area!! lol"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
hi,
The book club is ok, its sort of the more serious side of reading matieral - deep thought and stuff. As I said they only meet once a month so not a great deal of scope really.
I just cant seem to find things attracting people of my age which are interesting and reasonably priced. I try and avoid cliques tbh as they tend to share brain cells/opinions etc and if you dont agree with the consenus you may be ostracised.

I find it quite hard to meet people as well. I sometimes sit in on Friday nights wondering what everyone is doing and imagining I am the only loner sitting indoors with the TV and internet.
It's good to know I'm not the only one.:rotfl:HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Yeah, probably not my idea of fun then the book club. I prefer autobiographies, factual based books & at the moment I have a fascination on all things China!
I try not to get too involved in cliques, as like you say, sharing opinions etc is good for a while, but with no debate it gets very boring, very quickly.
115K, I know that feeling very well:D

(I would love to go to China, maybe not at the moment obviously.)
I haven't read the whole thread as it is very long. So what types of things have people tried? Book clubs/ fitness classes etc? I am married as well and I think that limits my chances as most people seem to be single and looking for a partner so are not very interested in me or married with kids so do things with them that are very family orientated.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
