I'm on facebook and have got in touch with so many people I knew from school etc.

But I am not on any networks.... I will have a look at that at home. Although I may need help working it!! Loads of the people I know are in the Bristol network, so that would probably be a good place to start.

Of course this place is a great way of meeting people!!

  • If you join a dating website - what do have in common with everyone on there well basically only that you are single and would rather not be... plus the demographc will be slanted towards the 'would like to meet someone... to sh&g' group and a lot of people similar to yourself are put off by the idea...

If you do something where you might meet people with similar people well you might not meet someone but at least you haven't wasted your time because doing something of interest but the people you meet are more likely to have similar interests, education, socio-economic group etc... probably why people meet partners through friends, work or hobbies

Apart from all the usual issues with internet dating, I hate the idea of being judged based on a photo and a few details about me. There is much more to people than a few details of what they do, interests etc.

The club idea is a good one, but the two clubs I have joined in my area have mainly older people in, I have a really good time and they are lovely, but its not been a good way to meet folk of a similar age.

My salsa class has been a good way to meet a few people, but only a few are we are regulars so see each other more.

I had a busy weekend so didn't get round to checking what is in my area.

The dating websites are very clinical. Like you say, they focus on photos and appearance in the same way you would pick clothes from a catalogue, people try and pick dates. It's quite crass, and I tried it after getting into that work, gym, sleep pattern. Although I was meeting nice guys at the gym, they didn't appear to be interested. Also, the gym is a place where people tend to do their own thing at their own pace with their headphones on and then go home.

If there is some mystery way to meet people who aren't just out for sex and actually want to find out your name and talk to you, let me know!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

I will but only if you do should you work it out first!!! :D

I hate that cattle market effect... I have a brain and a personality... get to know it and you might like it. It's the old never judge a book by it's cover. I'm not a gym type person. I like watching, but I don't take part :p

I agree, you still get that cattle market effect in pubs and bars. Sometimes I think if you dress to revealing - eg naked back, very short dress, low neckline, you can attract the wrong type of guy. But if you dress classy, say a knee length dress showing just enough skin you can attract the right type of person.

I am a gym person, but not an alton towers person, I am terrified of high rise rides, but I can go walking at heights. I like old buildings, places of interest and history, museums and art galleries. I am not boring, I love going for days out etc, I like a lie in occasionally, but I never want to miss the day, life is too short. Non smoker, not a big drinker, last time I got drunk was two years ago, prefer tipsy. :T

Yes been to bath, but did not go in the baths, as it was too pricey. Bath is lovely, I remember having a really good ice cream there. I had stayed in the cotswolds as well lovely area.

I'd not been in the Baths for years and at £10.50 it is a bit pricey, but worth a visit and it's cheaper than they new one!!

Facebook is great for meeting people, there is a singles program which I added and have met a few people from there.

Being male though, it's alot easier for me meeting people off the internet from a safety point of view and only ever do it in public places.

There was only one bad incident and the girl turned out to be an absolute psycho. The kinda girl you wouldn't turn your back on even for a second.

And yes, I am quite far up north in comparison to you! :D

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!
