The first thing you need to do, is ask yourself what you are contacting people for. If it's for a relationship - then that may be what you're complaining about others for...
Contact others for conversation and friendship first and foremost. A relationship should be bottom of the list of priorities. After all, interesting and amusing is a bare minimum qualification to enter a relationship with.
Use sites like this to increase your circle of friends. After all - how many dates are a "friend of a friend"? If you like the person you're talking to, then things may go that way. If not - they're still worth talking to. And they may have a friend that you will also find interesting and amusing, but without the face of a busted boot.
The friendship is the cake, the relationship is the icing, and the sex is the cherry on top.
That's the problem with dating sites. They try to short-cut to outcomes without going through the process. No good berating people when they approach you wanting a sexual relationship, when you go around talking to people just because you want a relationship with them...
Sorry that wasn't my intention, it just sounded very heartfelt and that you didn't like the companies that promote dating etc. with the promise of a relationship. Should have made myself clearer, certainly had no intention of berrating.:o
