Spent 2 hours today in a friends orchard, he has gone on holiday and said just back up the car and take as much as you like, nobody else wants them!!
DIL is OS too, so we set too, the stash was to share between our other os friends, but we all ended up with 3 large folding crates of apples and I had 2 crates of pears. The pears will make enough Chutney to last a year and the apples will keep us going in pies, crumbles, cakes, puddings, sauce and any other recipies I can find using apples.

I have also had leeks, chillies and runner beans from the garden, and 11/2 dozen eggs from dils chickens.Tomorrow she is bringing potatoes carrots and a squash from the allotments.

What a great day and all for free!!!icon10.gif

as part of my job for one reason or another i have to walk across a field which usualluy has horses in it and is a right of way. This week the horses must have been inside but there were loads of huge mushrooms so I picked a few. Got them verified by someone at work whos a bit of a mushroom buff and also checked on the net and they were common or garden field mushrooms but huge. Washed them really well and had them last night. I was a bit cautious in case I started going into convulsions or something but no ill effects. probably not to be recommended though!

5 bags of cooking apples from FIL, a bag of sugar from neighbour and mr troo picked blackberries on his way home from work - which I was NOT impressed with, it's not his job to pick fruit, it's our job and I'm feeling left out :D

He made a blackberry and apple crumble, which we took round to our friends house last night and ate. As we were leaving, they gave us a bottle of grape juice they'd made from the grapes in their garden :D
