Evening all - (shades of one of mot's little passions:rolleyes: )
I think mot does not mind my posting this.
Long-time lurkers and posters, all friends of mot, will remember the sterling work done behind the scenes by pania on mot's behalf some months back(also how she had to be persuaded back, when erroneously believing herself at fault for a.n.other's massive blundering)
This genuine and lovely lass is being made summarily redundant and I fear her 'employer'(seems too decent a word for them)will not bend over backwards to be correct in their dealings with her. I'd say they've started as they mean to go on.
Any words of advice or comfort you feel able to offer will be welcome.
This was what we read earlier this evening: -

    'Hi all.....

Tis P here on hypno's log in.

Had my internet disconnected by work today and have been told that i am being made redundant. feel a bit rubbish but determined to get through this with as much strength and positivity as i can muster....

Special thanks to you Hypno for scraping me up when i was in bits earlier and giving me a kind boot up the backside (and an internet to use for a while to jobhunt!!) I thank my lucky stars the day i moved to Norfolk and found you as a friend. xxx

May not be around much peeps due to internet issue and job hunting but will update as and when i can. Big hugs and hope you are all ok. xxx'

Would any of you good people, so strong here and elsewhere, also like to pass on some hugs, advice and good luck vibes to pania? - mot knows as well and will be looking in on her Thread later.
    pania badly needs support now.
    Bless you all.

    Morning everyone,

Hope you managed to look in on Pania's thread - it makes me wonder how much her being made redundant is due to the 'Credit Crunch' as in her line of work she is affiliated to housing - New Homes - this could just be a sign of what is really happening 'out there'. Not only do the papers today report that Council Leaders are being warned to expect a huge increase in demands for Social Housing by 2010 but here we have one of 'our own' who has now lost her job due to the drop in House Sales  .

Anyway, had an awful dream last night that Mr X (new LL) was going to sell my home now that it is looking lived in and homely with a garden full of lovely flowers, plants and colour - needless to say I have woken feeling somewhat shaken - yes, I know it was only a dream but I do hope that it was only a dream!

I think after all you have been through there are boud to be times when you feel like it's all too good to be true, and any second it will all come crashing down around you. Your dream is probably a reflection of that.

Don't let those worries become anything more than a little reminder to sometimes stop and smell the roses, and appreciate all the good things you have now. Mr X wouldn't dare sell your house and risk the wrath of an army of DFWs!! :D

Just left phone msg for pania; I heard all the social housing punditry, too.
Trouble is, will anyone remember who was responsible for removing so much Council Housing from the pool when a General Election comes? I doubt it, apart from the GB nightmare GordyB is having just now. It's relentless.

They won't, it was too long ago.

People look at how they are feeling now and who they think will make them feel better in the future.

With the majority of people now being owner occupiers (or should I say mortgage slaves?), the political parties will aim their message at making people feel more able to remain in their homes rather than increase social housing.

As people feel prices rise around them and income vunerable, the message people will want to here is that the government will stop the price of essential services rising. As a voter do you want to hear that the government will do everything it can to make sure you can stay in your home or that there will be better social housing should you need it?

Not trying to be political, but all the parties know where the voters sympathy will lie and they will address these needs in their messages.

Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 had a really interesting discussion yesterday about the state of Social Housing - apparently it is believed that 5million people will be on Council Housing Waiting lists by 2010:eek: Lets just hope that Mr X doesn't decide he wants me out of here as I would never get a place:(

"A Nigerian woman bought a baby in her home country and pretended it was hers so that she could qualify for a council flat, a court has heard. "

    Particularly interesting:
