Need to start making a dent on my packed cupboards. My monthly food spend for September has been £16!!!!! and that was just fruit and veg and i still have heaps of tins and rice, pasta etc. might have a pasta bake tonight got a couple of jars of it from the days before os sure there is an os way to do pasta bake so i might head over to the recipe threads just now.

morning (well afternoon now)
Late start to the day as had a late one last night, wanted to see OH and he doesnt finish work till around midnight. Thanks to late night shoppers not wanting to leave Tesco (OH is security guard) he didnt get out till almost 12:35am! Then we had to call at his for a few things.. so didnt actually get to my house till 1:30am-ish.. At this point made him some "tea" .. then we watched a film.. finally got to bed about 5-6amish. Then alarm went off at 10am and i came down and made him brekky in bed while he lounged for another hour (well nearly 2 cos im still shouting him now to make sure hes up! Its like having a child! ) because hes back in work at 1:30pm. Im in work myself at 10pm so need to get my head back down again later probably.. might get away with it though.
So todays a "dont do much day". Just got a few bits around the house to tidy, gotta sort some budget stuff out.. work out what i have left to spend between now and payday. Got a chicken in the slow cooker... :j First time ive ever cooked a chicken myself so fingers crossed
Ah well here he is emerging so bye till later...0 -
Just got back from my mystery shopping trip and the visits to Aldi and Lidl. I appear to have spent around £80 between the two  Admittedly I have lots of non-food items, but seeing as I wanted some mixed dried fruit and neither of them does it (I have sultanas) I shall have to venture elsewhere tomorrow.
I was seriously tempted by the wally trolley in Lidl's - £7.99 but it didn't have a collapsible handle and I'll be carting it around in the car too, so not today.
Oooh, Martin's money tip has just arrived - must go and read it.

Hi everyone!
A kind of average day here today although the sun is out. Decided yesterday I would treat myself to some new gladrags- well charity shop new but couldn't find a thing. Boo hiss! Thought I might go and spend my £10 book token instead today as definitely feeling in need of a treat! They're vouchers I've been given by work so won't be eating into the budget. Am going on a walk with the small person and the other Beavers this evening so it will be a Lidl pizza tonight as am on a quick turnaround. Tried out the gingerbread recipe in the BM this week- delicious aswell as a new autumn recipe. This was alternate layers of cooking apple, parnsip, potatoes and fried red onions baked in the oven in half a pint of veg stock and cheddar on the top. Really tasty.
Regards

Hi all
Well, I'm back from work early today - which is quite a welcome relief as I've been up at 5.30am every day this week in order to get to work for 7am. Yawn. It's all been worth it as I've had quite a laugh and a gossip with the people that I worked with there before.Even done work too!
They had a Health and Safety day at the main site of the company today (which is v close to home) and for some reason they sent me there. Blimmin pointless, if you ask me, but I'll tell them that I worked until 2pm - not a lie as I was at the main site until then - so I won't get my lots of hours in today.
My supply agency phoned me this morning too and told me about a potential job - but it would start on Monday! The two days that we're moving are Monday and Tuesday, which is damn annoying. They're going to see if the school would entertain me starting Wednesday as it would be until half term that the job would be for. Fingers crossed eh?
We've had some people come to look round our house with a view to them renting it. We're hoping that someone will take it as we don't particularly want to take the electric cooker with us and we're planning on selling it (only 18 months old) to the next tenants. There's another viewing tonight, so fingers crossed that someone wants it!
Anyway, as I've got an afternoon off I've got stacks of ironing to do. It's never ending, I'm sure!!!!
Supper tonight is ostrich burgers, new pots and peas.
See you all later

Day so far - DD and DS to school and nursery. Picked DS up at 11.15am (he's being broken in gently at the nursery) off to the park with littlun and nanna for football session/nature walk/playtime/picnic/autumn leaves hunt.
Didn't get home until 2pm, hung washing out in brilliant sunshine, prepared stuff for liver and bacon to be done in the pressure cooker for tea, kids might have to do with fish finger tonight as they'll eat neither liver or bacon - oh well it's their loss and means more for DH and me. Off to school to pick up DD now, planning on tackling ironing pile tonight, but hopefully someone will suggest something more interesting and I can put it off until another day (again!) Enjoy the rest of your day, I hope the sun is shining on you all, Soba.0 -
afternoon all. Having a lazy day here today (to go with the rest of my lazy week
) Lunch is just heating in the grill (potatoes from my organic box baked last night in a big batch with the middles removed and mashed with a cheese triangle then whacked under the grill to heat up. Yummy
).
Am well behind with the housework so I might try and persuade myself to get some of the annoying but essential jobs done later today.... 2nd load of washing is now in however as I was running out of clothes.
hope everyone enjoys the rest of their days (it's wet and windy here which just makes me want to curl up somewhere cosy...) :hello:Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
hiya,
yuck - liver!!!
Ostrich burgers - do you get those from a farmers market VIcky? Only had them in posh restaurants, but they are yummy.
This afternoon I am trying to do some studying (it's meant to be on law - but have ended up on mse again!!!! ) but dring my last study break I put the breadmaker on to make a cake. Yummm. Lets hope it works as this is a test run. Looks like it'll be huge, so planning to freeze half.
I'll let you know how it goes.
only problem is the smell is making me hungry!!!!
have a good day everyone.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Well, I'm feeling rather pleased with myself this afternoon!
I've hoovered the whole flat and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, made a menu list for the next 8 days' meals, which is firmly stuck to the fridge door so I won't forget what I'm supposed to be doing this time LOL! Made a shopping list for DS to get me what we needed to complete those meals, which turned out to be just potatoes, carrots, salad stuff and eggs, as everything else is either in the freezer or cupboard already, so that's another cheapie week for us :T ... and I've also asked him to get me some more pickling onions as I've just peeled the last lot and put them into soak and I've now got a spare jar for some more!
He brought home the flapjacks he made in school today and they are absolutely wonderful!!! - just sitting munching one with a coffee- so he's decided he's now in charge of making them in future!
All I've got to do for dinner tonight is cook some spag and re-heat the bol, so that's easy enough! ... and MAKE SURE do the washing up after we've eaten tonight as there won't be much of it! :rotfl:
I'm sure there was something else I had to tell you all, but never mind, can't have been that important
Good news about the job Vicky :T - fingers crossed they can be a bit flexible for you and let you start on Wednesday, oh and good luck with the move too!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
