  • It's miserable here too, very dull and dark and has just started raining I think. Feels like a winter's morning, apart from it's not that cold yet, but is probably why most of us feel so tired and washed out and no motivation to do anything

tr3mor - I keep mainly snakes but also have some bearded dragons and geckos, and did have a tarantula till she pegged it early this year :(

Thanks for the advice C_Q, i don't think i'll be getting anything in the near future, our 4 goldfish cause us enough problems ;) We don't have room in the flat either.

I guess I'll stick to going to see the one at the museum!

LOL, I just had to share this with someone. I now know why there are not many nuts on my tree this year! We have a squirrel visiting the garden!!

I know for those of you living in the country this would not be a big deal but we are in the city. I was sat on the bench having my coffee when he ran through a whole in my neighbours fence, ran across the patio, hopped onto the other bench and sat there and looked at me :D

Herb bread is in the breadmaker and homemade soup is in the slow cooker.

Hope to bribe DH for a lift to Primark to get my youngest daughter a new school coat.

She fell in love with the one I got for her elder sister and swanned around the house in a coat 10 years too old for her - sweet! :j

As we got the last black coat in that style yesterday it should be fun trying to find something else she will like.

Made a cooked breakfast for 2 daughters at 7.30 am and then another one at 9am.

Still need to go through post and it is raining so cannot put washing out.

Awwww bless, I love squirrels! He'll be nicking them to store in his hidey hole somewhere for winter :D

My mum had one that used to visit daily and would sit on the window sill and tap the window to get her attention :rotfl:

  • Hello!

My mom has been staying with me as she has had a nasty inner ear infection, been quite poorly and unable to stand due to dizziness. The doc didnt want her to stay alone in her flat and was considering sending her into hospital so she has been to our for a few days but is now much better. Had to have a bit of time off work to look after her so have some unexpected time at home.
Like most of you on here today I am also so tired I can barely keep my eyes open but I am not going to give in to the temptation to lie on the settee if it kills me! My excuse for being tired is lurking on here until all hours so its self inflicted.

My list for today is as follows:
Do yet more ironing (where does it all come from?)
Put away ironing mountain that I did yesterday and OH staggered up the stairs with this morning
Sort out finances/monthly budget/balance bank account
Get up in loft and find kids winter stuff I put away a few months ago, ready to sort out at leisure,
Sort out bedrooms, now mom has returned home DD2 can move back into her own room, (much to DD1's relief)
Have my mom, MIL and DD2's birthdays within the next couple of weeks, must write list of things to get and decide when to get them,
Finally, sew elastics on DD2's ballet shoes, ready for start of new term at dancing.

Tea tonight is a new one for me, toad in hole, as I forgot to get lamb chops out of freezer last night, sausages will defrost quicker. OH is not keen on sausages but Im going to slice them, and make it like a big yorkie pud and put pots and veggies inside it, so hopefully he wont notice the sausage as much. Also both DD's like this so I wont have to make seperate meals. Have some Aldi pork and herb sausages to try out. Also have some pears to use up, may make a crumble, and perhaps add a handful of chocolate chips to it, I like chocolate with pear crumble. (Well I like chocolate with anything really!)
Best press on with the ironing, going to have a :coffee: and listen to Radio 7 in kitchen whilst doing it.
    Toodle - pip.
  • Had quite a productive morning for once so far this morning - you're all up and about so early puts me to shame :o - guess I'm classing this time as a bit of a rest period though so not too worried - just need to get into a better routine as OH is starting his PhD in a couple of weeks and hopefully I'll have some work soon too.

Anyway so far 1 load of washing done and on the airer - it's been raining all morning - that horrible fine rain that gets all you wet so just hope we can get it dry asap. as I have2 more loads to put on  .

Finished the tidying up from last night - currently sorting through the random things we've kept from our pre moving declutter but that don't really have a home and boxing it up ready for our move - only 8 days away now  .

Also done an online survey for Pinecone and someone I do some work for sometimes has offered me 8 hours work next week so I'm happy :)

And phoned the letting agency and found out how the electricity works (sorting out the changeover) and whether it has a bt line as bt are claiming it doesn't but she thinks it has - so she's going to check with the owners for me.

Right - the rest of today:

Need to go to doctors and put in for a repeat prescriptions of inhalers and tablets and had a letter to book my flu jab (cos I'm asthmatic).
Go to post office and post a few things and sort out our post redirection
Continue with sorting out and decide whether or not it's worth trying to do a car boot on Sunday.
OH is making lasagne for dinner and I might make a cake I think

Hope everyone has a good day now it's time for a :coffee: (well a tea)

  • Well I'm at work at the mo - but the boss isn't in today - hurrah!!

I'm just looking at Madfrenchgirl's food spreadsheet - that must have taken a lot of work!!!

Am planning tea for tonight - either chicken casserole or cottage pie - cottage pie I think!!

When I get home (after picking up daughter) I'll dry the washing I put in this morning and start on the tea - and then it's kitchen cupboards for me!!! They need a good scrub!

Incidently - and I know I'm being really thick here, but.... OH - means Other Half, what does DH, DS, DD etc mean?

    Can anyone fill me in?
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)
