Ooooo almost forgot - I need to use my courgettes up today too and have a choice between making GR's savoury muffins or Lotta's chocolate courgette cake. Now what will it be I wonder ... muffins or chocolate cake "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Hi Curry Queen,
On shampooing the carpet, it's far easier to do it after the furniture's out. But two problems with that. First if the house is shut up empty, there's no ventilation to dry the carpets, so they can get very musty smelling. The other one is if the new people move in and the carpets aren't dry all the dirt from their shoes etc really gets into them quickly, so they look filthy very quickly.
We've moved houses a lot. We just vacuum thoroughly before leaving, and try to spot clean bad areas beforehand.
We do shampoo carpets in the new house when we arrive if necessary, so ideally try to get keys for before we move the furniture in.
I didn't know you kept reptiles  But we did have some nice little lizards in the garden of the house in France in the summer, but they were very small and kept out of the house0 -
Curry_Queen wrote:Really need to think seriously about scaling down my reptile collection too as they're going to be a logistical nightmare to move, and several have been ready for re-homing for a long time now but I've just hung on to them, as well as all the new babies this summer which are doing well and almost ready to go, so time to think about advertising them I think.
what have you got? I've always fancied some kind of lizard, espc a chameleon, they're so cute! Me and my girlfriend go to the Uni Museum quite often just to see theirs.0 -
HI everyone,
Dragged myself out of bed eventually this morning - don't know why I'm so tired this week. THe earlier I go to bed the worse I get!
Work all day then my weekly grocery shop tonight. Actually sat down and made a proper menu plan last night (rather than the vague one I do in my head on the way to the supermarket). QUite excited about some of my meals - I'm trying to do at least one new recipe every week.
After that I'm afraid it's lots of ironing for me this evening. Boo hiss.
Have a good day all.

I always find that. The longer/deeper I sleep the more tired I feel. Yet a couple of years ago when I was training for a marathon and you would have expected me to be exhausted, I was bouncing off the ceiling with energy!
Hello everyone, I'm back on the OS wagon after falling off recently. I have been feeling so tired after I get home from work that I haven't made proper food, but that is a downward spiral. This week I have managed to get a HM tea on the table before 7pm three nights in a row. As I only pick up DS from after-school care at about 6pm this is no mean feat. I have been managing to make HM bread but I love the smell of it in a morning so that is very satisfying for little time invested.
I am psyching myself up to do some serious de-cluttering this weekend as my house is like a tip and I am finding it very draining.
Have a great day everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I am sooooooo tired this morning - must be the weather or the fact that OH woke me in the night again but this time it was with snoring and shouting in his sleep  I haven't told him as I think I saw him for a total of erm... 5 minutes this morning. I also don't want him to feel any more guilty - last night I went to bed early and put the end of Suppernanny on and started half watching Room 101 and Lost but dozed off until OH phoned me (we have an intercom type thing on our phone where we can dial upstairs or downstairs so we don't have to shout when DD is in bed asleep - its actually very useful
) and woke me up around 10.50pm to ask me where my keys were to lock up when they were in the usual place on top of the TV  That teamed with the binmen arriving at 7am  Ack!
To do today ? Hmmmm - dishes (OH didn't do them last night like he said he would ...again! ), I need to tidy up a bit, shred some papers, come up with something for tea. DD is off school today (still settling in period  ) so we are going to sit down together and write out the house rules (No hitting, No sulking etc) ala Supernanny, make a "sticker" chart (we'll be using a star stamp and some gold ink I have instead of stickers), make a naughty chart (List of things that are naughty that she does regularly - interrupting while we're on the phone, screaming, hitting etc - which will have a tally chart on it. When she reaches 5 marks on one section she gets something taken away
) and we're making a chore list for her where she can earn a minimum of 7 "stickers" a week and extra ones for extra jobs
DD and I also sat down and wrote out a prize list (10p crisps, packet of milkyway stars, bag of jelly beans, bag of dolly mixtures, local bakers sausage roll & gingerbread man, a Princess dolly, a jigsaw, a book, a video x 2, DVD, new bed and mattress) for upto 500 stars which should give me about 3 months at least to save up for the bed and mattress!

Thanks se999 I hadn't thought about airing them afterwards and the last thing I want is for the place to smell when the landlord checks it  Technically I have to give him a month's notice when I leave here so I can use that time if necessary to get everything sorted out, knowing him if I've cleared everything out before the end of that month he'll be keen to get someone else in straight away, he did when next door moved out last year. The bedroom carpets aren't too bad and a quick clean on the areas we walk should bring them back up like new again, but the living room carpet is beige/cream _pale_ and will need a really good clean. I've always cleaned up any spills properly and spot-cleaned any marks that appear, but the last time I did that I ended up with circles where it was cleaner than the surrounding carpet  It doesn't look dirty but I can imagine it will show up more when all the furniture is taken out as it was a brand new carpet when we moved in nearly 4 years ago
Ah well, the worst he can do is deduct money from my deposit so I'm not going to get too stressed over it and just do the best I can. It might even be worth me calling in the pro's to do the living room carpet but I've no idea how much they charge.
tr3mor - I keep mainly snakes but also have some bearded dragons and geckos, and did have a tarantula till she pegged it early this year
Chameleons are beautiful creatures but also very hard work as it can be extremely difficult to get their environment exactly as they need it, and they will get sick fairly quickly if it's not all spot on. You need to do lots of research if you're thinking of getting one and I wouldn't recommend them as a beginner reptile. I know people who have years of experience keeping reptiles who still struggle with chameleons.
If you want a fun lizard with bags of character and one you can interact with then get a bearded dragon. They're relatively easy to care for and very hardy so you won't kill them easily if you make a mistake and you'll have lots of fun with them! I've had my pair for almost 7 years now and had hours of fun watching them run around and play tag with the cats, and they recognise my voice when I call them or talk to them - excellent pets
Just make sure you do your research first and fully understand their needs and can provide that for them and you won't go far wrong"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
