Went to mum's and she's decided she's buying us all new outfits for the funeral - Dad specifically requested no black and I only own 2 skirts - black! I went to the shop today where she's bought the other outfits - lovely shop (read expensive) where the assistant and owner run round and select items for you and give good advice etc. Was torn between an olive green trouser suit which fitted a treat and looked fab (but my other sis may want that jacket) and a pair of brown tweed trousers with cami top and big brown cardi. Went for the brown ensemble as I'll get lots of wear out of it and sis can have the green.
Paid the bill which mum will pay me back for - £180  But I suppose the difference is that the £95 pair of trousers fit like a dream and apart from the length, don't need taking in at the waist as per usual, whereas my Matalan jeans never fit rightHave to say I do look good in the new outfit, even if I say so myself and if I get lots of wear out of them, then Dad wil be pleased as he was all for value for money
May even wear it at the OS meet in November (Will get round to sorting that again next week)
Quick whip round Tesco as nothing indefrosted for tea so shop bought pizzas I'm afraid and salad. Will get back on track next week I expect.

I like the way your dad thought TM. DH wants a New Orleans Jazz band at his funeral!!
I have overspent big time today. Out of the £150 I had left from the grocery money I now have £40 leftand only £50 of that was spent on food. You know those "if I don't get it now it will be gone when I go back" moments? I had a few too many of those. I do however have my favourite boots mended and a new pair bought as the repairer said my old ones wouldn't last much longer
Poundland had some great anti-nit shampoo and conditioner with neem oil so I bought 3 bottles of each. I invested in a new baking recipe book as I want to do much more of this and it's got some fabulous birthday cake ideas. And the finale was a 3.5 litre slow cooker from Superdrug for £12.99. I then treated DH to a steering wheel and pedals for his PS2 (£19.99) so he couldn't moan at me for spending too much money
I did however fill the whole living room twice with shopping bags for £110

We went to lidl this morning as it is library day(so no home lessons in morning) and I bought new wellies(£2.99).I've been needing some for ages but refuse to pay £20 for a pair with stupid rainbow stripes when all I want is plain and practical.
Then we nipped into the library where I borrowed loads of books as usual.I finished picking my neighbours pears(she lets us have them as she cant eat them).WE did English in the afternoon which was supposed to be Shakespear's Macbeth but DS has the big book of Shakespear so we just looked at the study guides instead.DD is mad on Macbeth after seeing it on TV(she loves the evil Lady Macbeth)
We had egg and mustard and cress sandwiches for lunch.
DS has given me his book list for college so will be hunting for them this weekend.
He needs 3 books so far and definitely another 1 later on.I managed to find 3 ring binders and some index cards and their box, that he needed ,just knocking around the house(its amazing the stuff you accumulate when you homeschool) .He needs one more binder and Im sure one will materialise.
Tea was quiche and veg with a big baked potato.
The watering is all done and Im just off for my last cuppa.0 -

Don't beat yourself up for spending money - instead think of it as investing for the future.
A bit like a pin money challenge in reverse.
Ask yourself how much you would pay in a month or two if you had not thought ahead now? I bet it would be a lot more.
Re smoke alarm - my technique is to say to DH very sympathetically that - as he works so hard - is very busy etc - rather than always ask him to do stuff "we will get a man in"
It has to be said very innocently and supportively - but - it is amazing how soon he decides that there is no need for that and he does the job himself.;)"This site is addictive!"

Morning all
Quick tidy up done last night so this morning I just have everyone's pack-up's to make. Pre O/S it would of cost at least £4-£5 in school money before I had even left the house in the morning.
Children are going swimming after school again today. I have joined the two youngest up to the leisure centre where they both go to school because due to work I am unable to collect them from school on time 2 days a week. The membership is £10 a month each so this was a lot cheaper option than the other options of taxi's home or 2 trains/2 buses. (We live 12 miles from school). At least now they can go swimming anytime they like and use the gym twice a week.
Hope the cleaner works out well and that you are feeling better later ((PP))

Hope you feel better soon PP. I've woken up this morning with a headache and a very sore right eye, hope it's not conjunctivitis
Today is just going to be a round of housework as we have another viewer for the house tomorrow. It's not too bad, I just need to hoover through, clean the kitchen floor and sort out the kids roomI'm hoping the laundry fairy will appear as my kids and dh seem to have developed an aversion to putting their own clean clothes away. We used to have a routine that all clean clothes would go at the bottom of the stairs and each person (apart from DD2) would pick up their own clothes and take them upstairs, now nobody bothers and it is all left to me
Trouble is I have arthritis in my knees and hips and can't manage the stairs too well. Never mind, it looks like a nice day so I should be able to get some washing out.
