LMAO how many times have I done that in the past :D

Now I have a huge calendar hung on the wall and it has a section for each of us. I make sure that the dates they go back are now written on it in big letters :D

    Morning all :grouphug:

I woke up all excited this morning as we're getting a new car next weekend (Friday 16th OH is going to get it) :j better still, it's a car that I wanted but OH said that he didn't like it but when one comes available from a friend :D last night OH phoned Churchill to get some advice about his insurance (not due for renewal until end of November) and ended up buying the insurance as well and getting a £13 refund to the credit card as the insurance for the new car is LESS than £700 and we paid over £800 for insurance for the current one :T

Since OH has to take time of work to go and get the car (he needs to tax it and since it will take him at least 4 hours to get to his mates house he's going on the Friday instead of the Saturday) we're going to take the car around a few dealerships this Saturday to get prices from them. We don't mind how much we get for the car but since OH won't be able to drive it from mid-day on the 16th (he won't have any insurance) I've suggested he take it to one of the local dealers Friday morning on his way to the train station. Any monies raised will be paid to the credit card to get that paid off ASAP ;)

As OH was working out insurance etc for the car, I decided I would work out debt repayments last night while he was on the phone. OH was supposed to be paying £100 a month (after payday) to the credit card from his account but he was so confused by all the different Mastercard options that he's increased payments to me to £1000 a month  so I can pay the £100 from my account instead. Based on current figures, including balance transfering Time Retail Finance store cards (On the 10th October I estimate the balances will be £170 + £444 but thats rounding it up a few pounds), plus the purchase of car insurance 29th november (which I've budgeted £700 for but we know it will be less, but this allows for any paperwork charges ;) ) we should be credit card debt free September 2006  If we manage to get another 0% card then it could be as soon as May 2006 and save us about £150 :jThis would leave us with at least £220 a month to save up to pay off the bank loan / student loan or pay our savings back! I'm hoping to be able to put the money into a savings account to pay the credit card after the purchase of car insurance next November and I estimate it will take us about 12 months to pay the savings back. Not sure though, I'm just concentrating on paying off the credit card at the minute. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and its getting brighter :T

    Morning everyone :)

My first post of the day although I've been sat here a couple of hours now reading various stuff while I have my :coffee:

It's gonna be one of those days again I think as I'm waiting to hear off various people about getting my eldest some help and I'm terrible at answering the phone at the best of times, and use caller ID to screen calls, but these people withhold their numbers, or they aren't available, so I'm just going to have to take a deep breath and answer it and hope it's someone I need to talk to :( ... the good news is that my ex's sister, who I haven't seen or spoke to for several years, is now on board and will do what she can to help too.

Youngest off school again today as he's still hobbling around on my crutches and can't yet get his shoe on due to the swelling and the tubi-grip I put on him, so he's going to fall behind in class before he's even started :wall: He had a fair amount of time off school last year for various reasons and I was determined this year would be different so I'm really annoyed this has happened :(

I have got the BM going though to try out a sandwich loaf which I've not yet made just to see what the difference is. Still got to do the washing up from last night though :o

Good luck CQ, I wish you all the best today, take a deep breath hun, you can do it.

I've just pulled the mince out of the freezer. I'm going to make DH's favourite tonight, shepherds pie :D

I made cheese and potato pie for the kids last night, I haven't made that since I was at school. It was very yummy and so easy to do though. I can make a lot more dishes with cheese now DH is doing nights as he's often not up to eat an evening meal with us. I'm going to bulk cook a lot of meals to put in the freezer for him so I can just fling one in the microwave when he gets up.

P-P What a lovely surprise for you (and your DD). Enjoy watching the films

Sweet-Pea Gosh, you and your family sound v busy. How do you manage it all???

VickyA Good luck with teh supply teaching - and please can I have a slice of cake? ;)

Moggins You must feel so proud of your son. Changing school/moving up can be nervewracking. Sounds like he is taking it in his stride though. Good luck with the uniform hunting

Nicki Great news about your c/c debt free date. :jump

C-Q Hope that today goes well for you - sorry to hear that your son has had a hiccup at the start of the year. Thinking of you x

Well, I made pasta :( for dinner last night and also made crumble for pudding - managed to eat it all ooops. Thanks to everyone who helped me with recipes. I'll definately make it again - it's very easy as well as cheap and filling.

Not much OS today - third last day at work. Does cleaning out my filing cabinets count??? Should have taken in teh vinegar spray with me - the place is filthy.

Right - better go and get on with it *looks disgustedly at the mound of paper needed to be filed/sorted/chucked*

    Gdday everyone,

I've had a pretty good day today. Before I left for work this morning I stuffed a chicken into my crockpot. Ooops...didn't realise it was that big:p. Got home, and had roast veggies with it for tea. Got enough chicken for tomorrow night and froze another portion. I threw the remains back into the crockpot, added some more water & veggies and have it on now. Will leave it on for the night. I have never done this before but I am amazed at how much meat I got off the chicken. I'll have HM chicken stock which I'll freeze. I've never done this before either so hopefully it will taste ok.

Does anybody else hate getting the meat off the chook? I suppose I better get going. Have to make DH lunch now. Rather do it at night and pop in the fridge then get up at 5am. He only has a cuppa before he goes. I have him well trained. ;) Hope you all have a nice day.

PS. Beautiful spring weather here - warm & sunny (hee hee)
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I've just been reading on another website (the one in my sig.) about uses for old sheets when I read the most obvious tip : Put a fitted sheet over the back seat of the car as a seat cover :T Think about it, they've already got the elastic in the corners so they'll hug the corners of the seat and you can remove them to wash when they're dirty!!!! Why didn't I think of this? I see me getting some fitted sheets (either make them up or have a rumage through a couple of cheap shops... do Asda do smartprice sheets? ) for our new car! The same poster also suggests keeping a flat sheet in your boot that can then be used as a dustcover when you buy plants, a blanket when the kids want to nap, a towel when you get caught in the rain etc etc!

I do - I can't stand to touch meat with bone in. I can't buy a full chicken for this reason - I buy chicken breast only (although not bought chicken at all recently because of the most recent reports) which is not MSE at all. When I wa s with my ex, I bought a full chicken and he would do all the taking it off the carcass etc.(shudder). I can eat meat as long as it doesn't resemble the animal it once was! I want to be a veggie really but I like the taste of meat too much!!

Today, I've got a steakk and ale casserole in the slow cooker - there's only two fo us but I've done enough for six to freeze for when I can't be ar$ed cooking. I haven't got many spare containers to put it all in though.

Am off to Aldi for the first time today following the reccomm from MSE and the long Aldi thread. I know I haven't gone before because of the "snob" element. But paying more for things of (hopefully)equal quality is not exactly bright. Plus, I'm moving soon and need to find at least an extra £150 per month -but I as I won't be earning more, I need to cut costs and food seems a obvious one. I know I spend far, far too much on food for one adult, one child especially compared to some on Old style. I do cook from scratch and do a big shop but also spend a tenner here and a fiver there almost every other day!!!!! Mind you DS seems to eat his own weight in fruit.
