  • Hi all,
Feeling very miserable as Im going back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off. As weather is a bit gloomy have decided to take DD's to cinema later to take my mind off things. Must go to the bank first, I had blanked my return to work from my mind so completely that when I went to the bank the other day I forgot to withdraw any change for my bus fares.
Had my last lie in of the hols this morning and finished my second reading of HP and the half blood prince. Now Im off to hang some washing on the clothes airer and put some in the tumble drier, have a tidy round, do some washing up and a bit of dusting and vaccing, blanch and freeze my last lot of runner beans from my uncles garden and gather together all my things required for work tomorrow.
I have a job application to post and another to fill in later, the second job looks really good, so Im going to keep my fingers crossed.
I have got all the school things ready for Wednesday, name tapes were done ages ago (I like sewing!) bags and PE kits are ready and waiting. My mom is having DD's tomorrow for their last day at home and I know she has one surprise planned, (oldest DD is reading this over my shoulder so I wont say) but both of them are looking forward to going back, (more than I am anyway!)
    Have a good day all.

Keeping you in my thoughts today PP - hope all goes well :grouphug:

Had a reasonable weekend. Went shopping for DD's school trainers which I wanted as plain as possible and NOT expensive/branded as they're only for school (she's in reception and their uniform is tracksuit bottoms, poloshirt, sweatshirt and trainers but she looks sooooooo cute I'm not complaining) and since they were in the sale (£2 a pair) I bought her current size and the next one up! :D She also needed some plain black shoes as she only had trainers, Barbie sandles with heels  , white shoes and wellies, none of which are exactly suitable to go with dark coloured dresses. I managed to find some that look like doll shoes, in "leather" with velcro fastening (she can cope with buckles but I always end up tightening them) and no little phaffing hearts or that which will collect shoe polish when I shine them up :D They were reduced as well so I managed to get two pairs of trainers and a pair of smart "Sunday Shoes" for DD for £10.95 :T

I then went and spent a fortune in Kwik Save and Iceland, mostly on reduced stuff which we had as a treat for dinner Saturday night (left overs were in the fridge but were picked at over Sunday) as I was sick of OH moaning about the lack of "food in the house", by which he means pork pies, crisps and other "snack" food. It was my last blow out when it comes to food. From now on, if he wants stuff like that he can buy it himself.

Sunday I spent the day cutting up an old quilt MIL gave us (will start on the rest of the bedding when I've finished with this one) and turning the majority of it into a patchwork throw for the back of the sofa. The patchwork is only half done as I had to get on with dinner but I'm hoping to finish it today, or at least the patchwork side  For dinner we had roast lamb joint cooked on a bed of spring onions with lamb chops (1 each), loads of mash, steamed frozen veg and gravy (all leftovers are in the fridge ready for bubble and squeak tonight) followed by homemade fruit crumble (plums and peaches I bought from Lidl on Friday that were turning  , an apple, and a handful of mixed fruit. Crumble mix was taken from the book "Just like mother used to make" that I've got out the library), with Birds custard but the proper powdered stuff in a tin  I just had to have the leftover crumble as a snack this morning, but I'll make another one soon.

My plan for the rest of the day? Tidy up throughout (post weekend clear up!), wash the mountain of dishes that have appeared even though I did about 5 lots of washing up yesterday (with the help of OH)! I want to finish my patchwork and then have a nice long soak in a hot bath tonight before settling down to watch Most Haunted at 9 on FTN. I was supposed to have a bath last night but with Most Haunted Live on from 8pm til midnight (and then I was trying to watch the webcams as well) I had no chance by the time DD was bathed and in bed at 8pm!

Morning all, it's a bit grey and yuck here today so I'm making with the laundry impersonations in my study - I'll need to rotate some of the sheets and things that are hanging off doors shortly. After yesterday's mammoth cook I can hardly bear to go near the kitchen again :) but it's a friend's 21st today and I'm making a cake so I'll be going in as soon as I've finished here. Ah well, baking is quite different to the cooking I was doing yesterday I suppose :)

So plan for this afternoon - bake cake (so it can cool) and choccie muffins (as oven will be on). Cook up some pasta and combine with the chicken and Khol rabi in white onion sauce then cover with grated cheese and grill.

Whilst all that is cooling go out and get this week's money and some freezer bags.

    Come back, shower and hairwash.

Portion up now cooled pasta for freezer and ice cake

    Collapse until half five

    Make self pretty

Go out at half six with cake etc to pub where we're having dinner for friend's 21st - it's 2-for-1 :D

So as soon as I get my rear end off here, I'm good to go :D
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...
  • Afternoon

Just wanted to say thanks for all your lovely comments.

Im leaving in the next 30 mins to get up the hospital. We are going to drive there as I have a crip badge and can park near the entrance-then OH will push me in me 4 wheel drive wheelchair..lol

Washing bin is empty and house tidy and clean so if I do have to stay in-it will be ok for a few days

Just had my lunch of lamb chop, boiled potatoes, cabbage and mint sauce :D Im always starving up the hospital so will take a sarnie with me as I refuse to pay £3.00 for a small sandwich  Even there coffee is £1.50 a go. Will also take a bottle of water with me :D When I had to stay in for 2 weeks a few weeks back-if you want to watch the TV it is £3 a day

Anyway, hopefully I will be back later.

    Luv to all.

Oh it did actually thunder then? I must have heard it in my sleep but thought I'd dreamt it LOL! but it was very dark and raining when I woke up and looked a bit stormy. I'm surprised I slept through it to be honest because I'm normally awake if a pin drops!

    Afternoon all :hello:

Hugs to everyone that needs it.

Well, my friend has been and gone. It was lovely to see her again and see her wonderful photos of where she's living in Australia. Lucky thing! I took her into the local "city" (it has a cathedral, but is quite small!) to show her the sights. We went to look round the cathedral and I couldn't believe how much they charge for you to go in. Luckily, I've still got a valid student card but that only knocked 60p of the normal price. It is a lovely place though, so I shouldn't really complain.......................

I've just had a phone call from a supply teaching agency that want to interview me on Wednesday! Ok, so it's only an agency and no work is guaranteed, but it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully I'll get some of my confidence back.

Supper tonight is home made spag bol from the freezer. I hope OH appreciates it.

The house is looking quite tidy at the moment, which I'm quite impressed about but I'd better go and wash the bedding that my friend slept in.

    Bye!

    Hello All

Back at work again today. Been hoicking off some plum recipes today, as we're over run with the things!

Second batch of plum jam on the go at home today, but still got oodles of them left!

I have no idea what's for dinner, but probably something with left over chicken from yesterday's dinner.
