I recently decided to take the Sat Nav plung and found a bargain - its a blue tooth add on to my Palm T5 - the TomTom Navigator 5 from a web shop - discountsatnav it was only £139.99 and worked fine. I found it through research on the net they also sell on ebay I understand.
their link and the product page: http://www.discountsatnav.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=17&PHPSESSID=55ba920b1bfe3a57f8d18ba164156f770 -
As i couldn't get a signal on my i3 in my renault megane i went on a hunt for the external antenna (GA27C). A Garmin reseller offered it for £50 and maplins wanted nearly £60. However i spoke to GPS Warehouse (https://www.gpsw.co.uk) and they delivered it next day for £29.75 inc.
As an aside the fitter who plumbed it into the car showed me the area in the windscreen that is cut out for the correct placement. It is in the black dots where the rear view mirror is mounted and if you look at the windscreen from the outside you can see the slight change in colour of the windscreen if you look at an oblique angle.NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"

nope thats looks an excellent price, the 500 is usually a bit more than that most places and the 300 is still that much on some sites.
maybe you could let us know where youve spotted it in case others are interested.
(i paid £319 for a 500 but that was a misprice from argos a while back, should have been £440:D ).gave it to the old man and he loves it,use a pda based one myself for the flexability.

excellent....got my tom tom one yesterday at Currys who priced matched...did have 2 reserved at Argos but in newbury so would have meant a 50 mile round trip....so for the sake of a 10.00 argos voucher it wasnt worth it.
tom tom one works a treat on my 307 xsi which has the heat reflective screen so problemtic for these devices....but not this one!Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

Used my TomTom v 5.1 all around Northern Spain a month ago. Very impressed with how accurate it was. Absolutely spot on and I the few times we used the paper maps, we regretted it. TT got it right everytime.0
