Has anyone used the tomtom 700 in france and spain is it as good as they say it is.

Used my TomTom v 5.1 all around Northern Spain a month ago. Very impressed with how accurate it was. Absolutely spot on and I the few times we used the paper maps, we regretted it. TT got it right everytime.
  • I have looked all through the forums and it seems that the question remains unanswered....

Which is the best performer the Garmin i3 v Tomtom one????

    Can someone please summarize?

In my humble opinion there's no contest! TomTom One by miles.
The Garmin i3 is cheaper but the screen is smaller with no touchscreen feature. Postcode search is also inferior and my street didn't even appear on the 'latest' map (my street is at least 12 years old). For £223 + £10 gift voucher from Argos I reckon its a great deal. :)

as said above the tom tom is in a different league(have u seen how small the screen on the garmin is).unless your on a realy tight budget buy the tom tom one at that price,or a pda based unit if you need a bit more flexability.

I have a Tomtom One still in it's box and a Garmin i3. Yes the Garmin has a small screen but it's clear and easy to see. It's regularly upgraded, loading POIs is straight forward. The thumbwheel is quick and the 7 figure post code search works for me. As to roads not appearing , it's pot luck, I'm on Garmin's but not Tomtom'S.The reason for net yet opening the Tomtom is it's size, the Garmin just sits on the dash and doesn't dominate it. Forget the PDA route, I have an Ipaq with Tomtom 5 and it's just too much of a pain. I paid £174 for the Tomtom and £127 for the Garmin, price match and 20% discount at Staples!!

  • I've just ordered the Navman iCN 520 which has dropped in price, from £369 apparently, to £228, at John Lewis, Kingston. The cheapest price I'd found previously was on the web was £285 inc VAT, so JL is a BARGAIN! The Navman is excellent, being an all in one system, with a 5" touch screen, and you can download other maps and Points of Interest (POI) using the PC connection, including speed camera locations from free sites. So you not only get a good but cheap sat nav, but also a GPS camera detector with free updates.

According to John Lewis, the Navmans are instock at the warehouse and should be in time for Xmas.

Details of the Navman here: http://www.navman-pcn.com/index.php?product=39

Do woolies sell sat navs then? Which ones?

    Edited:

I just checked the site and see they have quite a lot but still think I'd rather not risk it and get the tomtom one from argos tomorrow with the £10 voucher
    Thanx
