  • I have been doing lots of research into to buying satnav for my car. It will just get occaisonal use and not wanting to spend too much I am very keen on the Garmin i3 which has good reviews. However I keep hearing that the Tom Tom's are very good but how much better? Is it worth spending the extras £50-60 for a Tom Tom one or is it not worth it?:confused::confused:

John Lewis is showing this at £299 online here:

How can you get it for £228?

By the way it is £249 in Staples and was the same at Argos but they raised it to £279.

I've just ordered the Navman iCN 520 which has dropped in price, from £369 apparently, to £228, at John Lewis, Kingston. The cheapest price I'd found previously was on the web was £285 inc VAT, so JL is a BARGAIN! The Navman is excellent, being an all in one system, with a 5" touch screen, and you can download other maps and Points of Interest (POI) using the PC connection, including speed camera locations from free sites. So you not only get a good but cheap sat nav, but also a GPS camera detector with free updates.

According to John Lewis, the Navmans are instock at the warehouse and should be in time for Xmas.

Details of the Navman here: http://www.navman-pcn.com/index.php?product=39

    Garmin i3 Review:
    http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/review.php?reviewId=1249

    Bad points include;
    - small screen (if you find it difficult to see small things, like older people do)
    - The GPS cuts out frequently
    - When you turn the car on, the i3 reboots itself.

    Good points include:
    - small, easily put away
    - cheap
    - easy to use (as stated in the review... I have not tried it)

I need to get a sat-nav system for my father in law.... a larger screen would be ideal!!!
    Help please????

I may on the other hand get the Garmin i3 for myself!

For UK use i'd say the Garmin i3(£160) or the TomTom ONE(£220).

Hubby has a Garmin I3 and would definately recommend it. I have to say that the small screen isn't really a problem as the voice instructions are very clear. Also I have read about people losing the GPS signal quite often but its happened to us about 3 times in all the times we have used it. If you have batteries in the Garmin and turn off the car it doesn't re-boot itself as it has a power source, this is handy if you're on a long journey and stop at services for a break then when you restart your journey the Garmin picks up where you left off (If that makes sense? lol)

As with everything though people get on differently with products and everyone has different views. We would recommend it without hesitation.

  • I am looking for a satnav with full Uk maps and at least major european roads.
Halfords are doing the Medion PNA 100 for just under £200. Is it worth going for it or are other systems better/ more value for money? Thanks in advance, Thomas
  • Help please

I'm looking for satnav system that has maps that offer comprehensive coverage of the uk and Ireland. Does anyone know of such a system

    Thanks
