the guide for syns is between 5 and 10, you can go up to 15 if needed but try to stick to 10, if you lose weight to quickly then up it to 15 if you lose slowly drop it a little but always try to eat you syns as they keep you sane and be able to carry on without feeling deprived,

Hello, I have just found this thread. I have been following SW for 1.5 weeks and with broccoli and cheese soup and sw quiche I am just about getting through the day without many syns. However I am unsure how many syns I can have each day, and does this vary according to how much exercise you do each day. Any advise gratefully received
Heya Madhouse,
Most peeps have an average of 10 syns but some go up to 15. I think it is all to do with the amount of weight you have to loose if I remember correctly. I always found that after so long of loosing the weight, I would always hit a plateu (or however it is spelt!) and for several weeks my weight loss would just stop! At that point I would have to cut down to 5 syns per day and then it would get things moving! I was always told too, that you should ALWAYS have some syns as it just doesn't work properly if you don't! I know it sounds crazy, but my old consultant/s always used to say that! So feel free to force that choccie bar down! Yum! :Txxx

Thank you, I have been having about 5 - 10 syns a day, and as a full time carer, some days are harder than others and I have been struggling a bit. So it's good to know I can have a bit more chocolate. Thanks again0

Hi all
I've just been creating a blog with my menu plans for each day! I'm very excited :j
Hopefully it'll inspire me when the ideas dry up or I have no time to think about what I can have or what should be on my shopping list
I'm not sure if we're allowed to link to blogs on here?0 -
I've been having about 5 sins a day. Actually, I had 7 today. Should I be having more?
I love my orange juice in the morning which I've been counting as 2.5 but syns online says tropicana is 2 syns per 100ml and I have about 140ml so I'm going to count that as 3 syns from now on.
I'm quite into having 2 jaffa cakes (2 syns each) after my dinner with a cup of tea. I like something sweet but it doesn't have to be a lot. I'm quite happy with what I'm having at the moment but it's nice to know I have more there if I need them.
Going to have porridge with banana in the morning. Cottage cheese & salad sandwich for lunch and the SW tikka masala sauce with maybe chick peas and rice for dinner. That'll take care of both (b)'s and 1 (a) and I'll probably have a few extra light laughing cow triangles during the day to put towards the other (a). And some fruit and the compulsory mullerlight, lol
I still haven't menu planned, maybe that's a job for the weekend. I've noticed I'm already eating the same things and if I'm going to stick to this, I need variety.
I'd like to read your blog Piggybanker. I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to post it if no one objects and it would be good for other peeps on here to get ideas from your menus. I'd be happy for you to pm me it if you'd rather not post

Dont bother with last years food directory, the new one has just come out so lots of the food in the old book will have changed. I dont mind getting up to date books from class and sending on to you. SW free branded foods has just come out and costs £1.95 in class and about 90p to send 1st class, but not sure on price and P&P for the directory as its much heavier.0 -

You need to aim for between 5 and 15, most people go for 10 syns. I have a friend who doesnt lose weight unless she has a full 15 syns a day, I have another who puts on weight if she goes over 6, it can be trial and error. The syns are there so that you dont feel deprived, if you manage on 5 then have 5, if you have a day when you want to go up to 10 then do. What do you spend your syns on? I usually use mine for a treat and a couple with meals, but my friend (lost 5 stone) has never used them for sweets and snacks and only uses them for add ons to meals, she finds it a bit odd that people would want a choc bar every day just because they can lol.0
