    Well done Marion!

Your organised diet plans have obviously paid off! - Hopefully that'll be a bit of an inspiration to the rest of of us! ;)

I have a confession - you know how it's a sort of standard joke "oh - she's such a bad cook - she can't even boil an egg!!" - erm, well - I actually can't!! tee hee - For some reason, whenever I try to boil or poach an egg, it goes spectacularly wrong! Therefore, the poached egg and toast I had for lunch wasn't quite as filling as you'd expect - most of the egg white kinda floats away into the water, so I only had miniature eggs to begin with, then the yolk burst as I tried to get it onto my plate! hhhhmmmppphhh!!! :rotfl:

Hi crapwithmoney, next time you do the poached egg try breaking it into a glass or cup first then stir up the boiling water so there's a sort of whirlpool thing going on before sliding it in - usually works for me.

Ah the cup is obviously where I'm going wrong! I'd heard that advice somewhere before, but couldn't quite remember it, so was swirling the water in the pot and breaking the egg straight into it - by which time the swirling had pretty much stopped! I'll try breaking the egg first next time though! I will make it to master chef status yet! ;)

Crapwithmoney, have you seen these? they are called poach pods, they are made of silicone and you just float them in your water. My mum just got 2 as shes rubbish at poached eggs. they can be used for making cakes and jelly moulds too. fab wee things.

  • well hello ladies!! (Sorry - and gents if there are any lurking!!)

You're all very quiet the last couple of days - how's the slimmer new you's all coming along?

It's my totm which since it knocks me so ill, means I never eat very much. All I had yesterday was my (disasterous) poached egg on toast, then some Marshalls cheesy Macaroni (free as long as it's the blue box and you don't use butter? And also use the milk as a healthy extra?), and a couple of grapes.

Today, I went out without brekkie again, so all I've had so far is (more successful) poached egg on toast, and mum's doing a baked ham, with parsnip and carrot mash for tea!

Not sure that I'll lose anything this week, as I haven't been eating properly! I usually find that I lose more if I make a point of having my full 3 meals every day - plus the weekend was a total write off! - But we'll see what Thursday brings!!

How are you all doing with your lurgae?

    xx
  • PS If any of you remember, when I joined the thread my main motivation was to lose weight for being Bridesmaid at my bro's wedding in Mexico next year? Well..... his wife-to-be (who I actually get on very well with), came home on Sunday with the dresses she'd chosen for us.

It's dark purple, styled a bit like a maternity dress and cost £20 out of New Look! In short - it's an absolute site on me! She bought it without even seeing me in it, and wasn't even sure if she was getting the right size - just took a guess and hoped for the best!

Although I tried to be positive about it, she still knew from my reaction that I wasn't comfortable in it, and my mum and boyfriend also said to her that they didn't like me in it - but apparently, it's still a very strong possibility!

The more I think about it - the more bloomin' annoyed I'm getting about it - am I being unreasonable?

What would all of you do? Do I just have to wear it and lump it? (bearing in mind it's costing me £1500 just to be there for the wedding, which I actually can't afford, and which neither of my sisters are prepared to pay so aren't going).

Thanks Nic! :D My mum actually bought me a special pot which has removable moulds for making poached eggs - but I always burn myself using it and it makes the eggs a funny shape! (you wouldn't think I've just finished a fine dining cookery course when I have such problems making eggs eh?! ;) )

    Evening all
I sts this week. Not suprising tho really cuz i've had a few bad nights with little un, been getting up at the crack of dawn n not getting to bed till silly o clock so i've been craving sweet stuff to keep me going. For some reason i'm really liking flumps at the moment (dont ask cuz i dont know!), they're only 1.5 or 2 syns for 1 big one tho so not too bad.
Mind you i've got scales that measure body fat too n according to them i've lost 1% body fat and gained 1.5% muscle mass so cant grumble with that.

Crap_with_money - i wouldnt be too happy either. My mate did this when i was supposed to be her maid of honor - i say supposed cuz i then fell pregnant and the dress was never gonna fit me 6 months gone so at least i had an excuse not to wear it. I'd tell her how you feel tho. You wont enjoy the day if you dont feel comfortable with what your wearing.
