Tig - with a few exceptions you can eat as much fruit veg and salad as you want on both days

Green days are for your unlimited pasta, potatoes, rice, pulses etc
Red days are for your unlimited meat x x

An example is a roast dinner

Green day - pile plate with as much veg and potatoes as you want with a yorkie and gravy as sins - limit your meat to the daily allowance.

Red Day - pile plate with as much veg and meat as you want with a yorkie and gravy as sins - limit your potatoes to your daily allowance.

Pasta is free on green, although you can have 100g (boiled weight) WHOLEMEAL pasta as a 'b' healthy extra on a red day. See what I mean....easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Just off now to cook myself a SW bacon sarnie.....
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Are we in direct competition with the WW thread :p

Ooooh! Good idea, I'm quite competitive. ;) In a nice way of course :A

My SW trial week cottage pie with swede and celeriac topping was actually okay. Had it with carrots, green beans and leeks (they were a bit yuk not fried in butter as we usually have them, but I suppose I'll get used to it).

Felt a bit guilty as my youngest daughter had it as well and she's in the fortunate position of needing to gain weight. She's breastfeeding and wasn't very big before she got pregnant. (Still in size 8 jeans - albeit low waisted - right up until she gave birth). We went on some website the other day and calculated how many calories she needs to eat to gain 1lb a week and whilst she's breastfeeding, it said she needs nearly 2,800 a day! She had a big bowl of some sainsbury's crunchy cereal today which she weighed. 200g with milk is 1,000 calories  . No wonder I gain weight! :o

I'm trying to work out the next few days menus. Should I alternate green and red days?

I think lunch is going to be the hardest. Both my daughter (the older one) and I work and we were agreeing earlier that we're probably not going to want to eat soup soon as it's going to be getting warmer. I know we can have pasta type thingies on green days, and salad's whenever, but tbh, I like salad but if I've had it for lunch, I don't really feel satisfied.

I know I can have bread as a healthy choice sometimes but I know bread is my downfall and I do lose weight easier if I cut out on some of the not so good carbs.

Any ideas for packed lunch please guys?

    thanks

    Hi everyone...

Can I join please? I was looking for a thread like this - I actually went to SW the other week to get the upto date books - but new I couldn't justify the £5 to weigh myself (I never stayed to class).

I managed to do 5 days of the first week, fell off the wagon and not quite got back on again...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've already lost about 2 1/2 st over the past year or so - not sure how - stress and worry I think but I've now hit a plateau and need to move the mountain left!

OOPs just realised as I began to commit myself to this thread I'm going out for tea tomorrow - I'm going to get myself ready to start Tuesday :T

    Have a great week everyone.

Dont worry Tig you will pick it up!

The SW plan is a healthy eating plan and not diet therefore they have ensured that you get all the food groups you need - this is where healthy options come in.

There are free foods, healthy A, healthy B and Syns.

Healthy A includes things like certain quantities of milk and cheese and you are allowed 2 of these a day.

Healthy B includes things like rice, pasta, potatoes, pulses on a red day (in certain quantities) and meat/fish on a green day (in certain quantities) Healthy B choices also include things like cereals and bread and again you are allowed 2 of these a day

Going back to the roast dinner.

On a red day - your free foods are meat, sprouts, carrots, swede.
your healthy B choice would be the new pototoes
your syns would be the gravy and the yorkie
your healthy A would be the cheese used to make the cauliflower cheese.

On a green day - your free foods are the new potatoes, sprouts, carrots and swede
your healthy b choice would be the meat
your syns would be the gravy and yorkie
your healthy a would be the cheese for the cauliflower cheese.

I am useless at explaining things but I have spare books (I have rejoined a fair few times! so if you want I will send you a starter book which will explain much better than I ever could! x x)
