    Hello again

Just had a call from Health Protection Agency re flu outbreak at ds's school. Chap interviewed me about ds's symptoms etc, also me. It seems that adults who have it are being advised to go to the doctor's, as they are iller (is that a word?) with it than the children. He agreed that it sounded as if I'm doing OK and probably don't need to go. I asked why this was all happening. It seems it's a particular virus not expected in this area and particularly virulent. Asked whether those who had had flu vac were at risk and he said they couldn't say whether it would be in the particular cocktail. SHould avoid social contact.

Thank heavens for cyber contact, that's all I can say.

That's the strange thing DOrry, I hardly ever get a cold, can't remember when I last had flu.

My lad slept through the night for the first time last night and tonight DH and I are going on a date. We've been out in the afternoon a couple of times but haven't been out together in the evening for months so I'm looking forward to it very much.

    Good afternoon!

Haven't posted on here for months and months and then it was only sporadic! Pooter blew up and ds wasn't keen on sharing with me - apparently I might've done something to his coursework - hmmm! Anyway thanks to a nice shiny bonus I now have a laptop, well it's the family one, but I've pinched it for a bit!

Trying hard at the mo to get back to meal planning, generally have some sort of plan, but needs more thinking about as everyone seems all over the place at the mo, kids out and about, friends all here for sleepovers, me working, oh working away half the week. Need some more organisation!

Anyway having had a browse around for the past few days saw that gammon joints were on special in Lidl, so stuck one in the slow cooker for dinner last night, then following another tip, chucked lots of finely chopped veg in the water and the kids are having it for soup lunch today - thanks everyone for the ideas. Soup is great today as I seem to have 7 extra children here, must have rubber walls to have fitted them all in I think! Got dd2 and a pal making the millies cookies, recipe posted the other day, its fab thanks! So snacks taken care of at the same time as rolls are in the oven! Will use any leftover soup - well I can hope, as base for spag bol in slow cooker, got some nice mince reduced! Then need to freeze before someone eats it from the slow cooker - whoever made the post about their family thinking it was like a magic ever self refilling pot made me laugh, like that here!

Annie, I'm very sorry to hear your family's sad news, all I can suggest is a personal note, the worst thing is when people just ignore what has happened for fear of saying the wrong thing, even just saying "I'm so sorry, i don't know what to say" helps.

Best go check on these rolls now and make sure that the cookie mix made it to the oven and not into assorted tums! Choc and raisin again today, :D - prob be on the diet thread soon!

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

    Hello all

Bit of a grey day here and very cold but I braved the elements and went shopping.........had photocopying to do, sort of fell into the chairty shops and came out loaded so had to get taxi home...............almost bought a plant pot (still might as they're hanging on to it till tomorrow) but it was £5........lovely cream with terracotta design and quite a big one but not sure I can work out where I'd put it..............mind you............if I like something that much I'll make space anyway...............lol

Woke up with back ache (not sure whether its the mattress or me spending yesterday on my hands and knees grovelling under desks and clearing out.......or both) so nothing doing today.........just having some 'me' time now.

Have a good day all..............sorry to hear Annes sad news and hugs((((((((((:o ))))))))))) to her and all those who need them for whatever reason
    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Thanks to all for your kind words and thoughts. My sister tells me the baby is beautiful and looks so peaceful. Living so far away from my family, I feel so useless at the moment. Thanks for the verses and poems. I will definitely use one of them when I write to my nephew and his wife. Annie x
