  • Sorry can't give you that answer... I'm still after a way of talking to someone at NW who knows something about the claims and can tell me if mine is going ahead? Were there any phone numbers on anyones acceptance letters?

    Tried:
    08457302010
    0845302010
    01793 556800
    0800 302010
    01793 656837

I'm on hold at the minute with the later who's actually try to help and speaking to their marketing dept...

Oh she's got a name of someone to deal with it... on hold again... I'll post if I come up trumps

  • *** I HAVE A CONTACT FOR CHECKING OUT YOUR CLAIMS ***

After many phone calls and lots of time on hold I have a direct contact for someone that knows about the claims.

    These are the details:

    Name: Rachael Laidier
Position: Manager of general insurance Marketing (Nationwide)
Working hours: 9am-5pm (she's just gone home)
    Phone Number: 01793 657173

She was able to tell me my claim has been accepted on the 4th October and that a cheque for £279 will be on it's way to me in the next 7 days... (so in response to 'bigandys' question - they say 7 days but the original T+C's say 28 days from submitting the claim)

    Hope this helps...

  • Hurray!

After nervous few weeks, cheque arrived. Had a letter within a few days of posting my claim form to say i'd been successful, and the cheque arrived today (6 days later) for £276.

Can confirm that never really spoke to anyone at N'wide that knew anything about it (trying all the numbers listed in the previous posts) In the end, phoning my local branch was the biggest help by them posting out the forms direct.

Used yes insurance for the quote because I'd got speeding points on my licence, and this seemed to bump up everyone else's quotes. They automatically sent paper versions of all my on-line quotes, so used these for posting to N'wide. In fact sent two different versions as I wasn't sure the excesses were exact. No query on the euro cover.

    Good luck everyone else!!

....and still can't stop the junk arriving from all the other companies :(

I sent off my application form to Nationwide last week and I got a letter from them today saying that that they will send a double-the-difference cheque to me within 28 days - woo hoo! The 'identical' policy I found was with the AA, which included the full Europe cover as standard, but was a lot cheaper. Nationwide policy was £630, the AA policy was £500, so I'll soon get a cheque for £260 (ish). Fantastic.

Got a cheque from Nationwide today - £251!!! That means this year's car insurance was effectively £374.80 - it hasn't been that cheap for years!

Thanks again for the tip Martin.
    Is it me?!
  • Beware everybody, it seems Admiral and Elephant now only give minimum european insurance, which isn't equivalent. Bell don't mention european cover either any more, but if you search their policy document it's still in there - I don't know how long for as I had to argue with someone on the phone this evening, and they eventually agreed its there.

Fingers crossed its still there tomorrow, as my cover with nationwide starts at midnight, and its the difference between £1700 and £740. They might end up paying me to be insured for the year!

One final note, if you are going to do this, try playing around with the annual milage, I end up getting more money back the further I'm insured to drive.

    Hi,

Thanks to advide on web site have recieved my letter from nationwide saying that I should get my cheque in twenty eight days. Orignial quote from nationwide was around £800 and a cheaper quote from admiral was around £500, so according my counting that should mean a refund of aroung £650. Very nice indeed

    Thanks again.

    Regards

  • Does anyone know if Nationwide accept quotes that have been printed from the internet? or do they have to be posted ones?

    Thanks

I have a question regarding matching the excess - I am looking to insure a car with my partner (policy holder + spouse).

I am over 25, driving for over 5 years and she is 24, driving for over 2 years.

Will I need to match the excess for me (eg £0.00 compulsory) as I am the main driver or for her (=£150) as she is included in the policy and NW uses the higher excess to match against?
