A news article of mis selling of Credit Card PPI:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7606249.stm

Its not just on loans, this is getting worse too and don't forget if this was your own bank to have done this to you, please try to reclaim on this, if not successful after being given the "Final Decision", take to the financial ombudsman service.

I am aware that banks were covered by GISC before the FSA taken over as from Jan 2001, and is a banking issue.
So you should have a right to take to the FOS if this is the case.

  • Hi Di
Yes I had two store cards governed by GE. The FO and FLA couldn't help with the charges so I had to start court proceedings and it looks like I may have to go the same way for the PPI.
Hi Angelwillow - just wanted to know are you talking about CC charges from GE capital?? I took them to FOS who passed me on to FLA and I received a letter from FLA -as follows
    Dear Mrs XXX
    Code of practice

GE Capital Bank Ltd has contacted the FLA about your complaint. A copy of the response is attached. Please read the correspondence carefully.
The company has provided a very comprehensive response which I trust addresses all elements of your complaint. You must decide if the response resolves this matter for you. You are entitled to make further comments. Please do this as soon as possible. If you wish you can write to the company directly. If you do, please send me a copy for your file. In your response it is important that you set out what you believe remains outstanding and how you feel this can be resolved, providing any supporting documentation if relevant and if available.

You may contact us if you have any questions. Please quote the above reference in all correspondence.

and GE's letter says (it goes on for 5 pages!!!
that they will only refund me the difference between the £18 charges and £12 which the OFT agree is reasonable - I'm not sure what to do yet - thinking about asking for ALL :o

If you get no joy ,do not give up follow Martins advice on the court route ,no company has defended charges, they can't justify them.

Hi, not had time to catch up but flicked through quick and noticed everyone is on about this store cards thing and PPI and not being able to take these to the FOS.

Any sale of insurance had to be regulated from Janaury 2005 so if you had a store card from that date then whoever sold the insurance to you had to be regulated and if not then it was not a legal sale. If FOS is saying they cannot deal with insurance complaints on store cards until 2007 then i would want an explanation to this.

Are peeps on about credit card/store card charges here or PPI????
