I have to agree with you here as I have used the DIY kit, got nowhere fast, eventually went to see a solicitor and they started getting a response straight away and I got my money back
Just been looking back at your previous posts and find them very interesting. Will you be suggesting a company to use next????

We have had quite a few posts just recently of this type of thing and although some people will use companies the majority want to try to get their money back for themselves and using a completely free service - the ombudsman. If this service cannot be used then perhaps the Citizens Advice is another good option.

Who and what were you claiming for incidently??

Hello... I am a new blogger to the forum. Like many of you I am in a similiar situation trying to reclaim PPI. I have taken out loans with Black Horse Finance & Welcome Finance. Both cases have been with FOS for 8 months. Black Horse are refusing to payout although the FOS have upheld my claim. The case has been passed to the Ombudsman for a final decision. I thought that if the outcome is made in my favour that the decision from the Ombudsman is binding on the finance company. Can someone please clarify if this is correct? I am still waiting for an adjudicator for my claim against Welcome Finance. The FOS do have a backlog of claims however, the whole process does appear to take a long time as in both of my cases these claims were made against the companies back in October 2007.
If the adjudicator has upheld the complaint and the firm has objected then it goes back to the ombudsman and then after that if the ombudsman upholds it too it is final. Laini has just been through this and got it upheld again.

Good luck and hope your other claims hurry along for you.

This may be the address but perhaps someone else who has had dealings with these can confirm

    http://www.barclays.co.uk/contact_us/leaflet.html

I would also send it recorded delivery too.

Thanks Marshallka this is useful to know. It's a very lengthy procedure but if my claim is upheld by the ombudsman it would have been well worth it. I'm routing for Laini !!!

  • Hey Tiggrae

The amount of PPI that I paid on the £5000 loan was £984 and the APR totalled £460.

    My monthly payments were £179

Not sure if this included any interest but when I spoke to the Bank of Scotland yesterday they seem to think that the figures for PPI is: £560.50 plus £88.94 Interest?

This is what Im confused about, as this only totals £649.44, which if you add this and the total APR paid only totals £1,109.44. I dont know what has happened to the other £334.56 that I feel I should be reimbursed.

Sorry if its still not clear, let me know if its not and ill try and explain more.

    Thanks hun
    xx

Thanks for posting this - I take offence to these scammers - I trusted my credit card providers - bank and FP when taking out a loan, they (banks etc) I thought were acting in my best interest, and helping me and my family get through some tough times, little did I ever imagine that they would be dishonest and put us in a worse financial state of affairs - naive possibly and gulliable, probably we are, but my husband and I are not stupid but sadly foolish - so why would I trust let alone use another proffessional body - and.................

Quite agree with you this is my bug bear. My OH was in financial difficulty and went to bank who then proceeded to take complete advantage which then got OH in more and more debt having to take out CC and then Overdraft all with PPI added even though self employed and having health problems.

If I get all these back it will make a huge difference to finances.:T
