I have to agree with you here as I have used the DIY kit, got nowhere fast, eventually went to see a solicitor and they started getting a response straight away and I got my money back0

Hey Tiggrae
The amount of PPI that I paid on the £5000 loan was £984 and the APR totalled £460.
My monthly payments were £179
Not sure if this included any interest but when I spoke to the Bank of Scotland yesterday they seem to think that the figures for PPI is: £560.50 plus £88.94 Interest?
This is what Im confused about, as this only totals £649.44, which if you add this and the total APR paid only totals £1,109.44. I dont know what has happened to the other £334.56 that I feel I should be reimbursed.
Sorry if its still not clear, let me know if its not and ill try and explain more.
Thanks hun

Tiggrae, if a firm of solicitors has an id number and you search that number on the Solicitors Regulation Authority site and it comes up with nothing what does that mean??? If i look on the Law society page and then find a solicitor and then look at the regulated principal at that firm it gives an id number. I then go to the solcitors regulation authority and check this number out and nothing... Why is this.
I really need to know this one??
See post below. I found out this one, the search facilty i used is for decisions on solicitors and you can check this out.0 -

That's fantastic news. This is a victory and an inspiration for others to keep on going. Can I ask a Q? Is it normal practice for the ombudsman to uphold the decision of the adjudicator?0 -

As long as a solicitor is registered on the law society's web site they are bona fide - as for searching on the Solicitors Regulation Authority website the search criteria automatically takes you to the law society so I'm not quite sure what you're criteria you're searching under

The firm that was quoted on here said it has a regulated principal and gave an id number
Regulated principals
This term means principals (sole practitioners; partners; members of a UK LLP which has an office in England or Wales; directors/members/shareowners of a company which has an office in England or Wales; directors/owners of an overseas corporate practice) who are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
I think this is something that may help others on here too.
Just looked again and this is for decisions made against solicitors so not about whether they have an id number. I thought you could check the actual id and then check that they are in fact solicitors. It is a useful tool though.
Anyone can add a six figure number to a letter head.????
God i am so untrusting aren't I...Life makes you like that when you have been ripped off.0
