hi i took out a loan with ppi about 4 years ago with lloydstsb.i was working self employed childminder but was entitled to some income support as im a lone parent.i think i may have been mis sold ppi as even if i lost my job i would have still been entitled to full income support. do anyone know if im right? i also told lloydstsb my circumstances.
Do you have your terms and conditions of the loan?

Sometimes you can claim for being self employed if you pay class 2 ni contributions.

I don't know about the claiming of income support though. I would of thought if you were claiming income support then you could not make a claim ???

hi i dont want to claim as the loan was finished.just wondering if i can claim my ppi back .i have look at my terms and conditions and does cover selfemployment over 16 hrs.but i was wondering if i had lost my job and wanted to make a claim could i have done as i would have still have got benefit money being paid to me.so would still have had money coming in.
  • Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place.
Just an update on my claim to first plus for 12 grand that I posted to them about a month ago, got the standard ''no we didn't letter today'' I have sent them back the template letter saying I don't accept that. I have also had a go at them (as advised on here) about the unfair condition of not paying cashback because you get into arrears. In effect they have charged me 12 grand for going into arrears!!! Is anyone else pursueing FP along the same lines? Any advice support gratefully received.

I would send your second letter to them and state that if you do not get a better response in x amount of time then you will take your claim for the misselling and also unfair terms in consumer contracts 1999 to FOS.

What was the date of sale of the ppi?

Firstplus came under jurisdiction of the FOS in November 2001 when they became members of GISC so you should be ok there. (if it was 5 years ago you took it out????)

Also they are not only penalising you for the 12K but also the interest on top of this as well.

I would just go for the misselling all together. It seems you were sold a policy that you had no idea if you could use of not and it was not discussed at the time of sale. When was this policy exactly??

Also were you paying class 2 NI contributions. It usually is a condition of claims for self employment.

If you put first response finance into the search this thread at the top of the page then it may find some claims for you, if not fire your questions away.:D
I have submitted a letter to them stating that I think I have been mis sold, they told us it was compulsory otherwise we would not be able to buy car.
I just wondered if anyone else had tried to claim?

When you try to find claims from the "search this thread" its difficult on here as final response comes up but i have googled it and its seems a few people have/are trying to claim from them. Take a look at them on google and maybe you will get some idea of the ease/difficulty of these claims.
  • Hi - many thanks for the reply.
We didn't need to go as far as FOS - just one letter and a stall by Halifax before they advised they will put us in the position we'd be in had the PPI not been taken out.
The loan is still current with another couple of years left. It bumps our monthly outgoings much higher than they need to be as its just short of £350 a month - of which £70 ish is PPI!
Am I right in thinking that the PPI paid to date will be refunded with intrest?
Do you know the 'normal' timeframe for this to be sorted by the bank?
Many thanks once again for your earlier reply - it was really helpful!
    Kindest Regards,
    Laura

    Hiya Laura.

From my experience 14 days from the days.;)
This may vary from one company to another, but this was mine anyway.

    Good luck.

They should refund you the ppi and interest paid also. I would also get some advise from Tiggrae about the amount to be refunded as they have been known to sting people with these refunds. When you find out the final amount then before accepting it post it on here for checking. Its worth it and also it should not be long i would not think before they pay up.

    Good news for you:beer:
