I know this is the wrong place here, but this is free of charge, checking lost accounts, I have received my letter from BBA (The voice of banking & financial Services) who try to trace back old bank accounts, you may be surprised, people have had old accounts, maybe have not bothered with them, lost details etc, where these help trace for you free of charge, in the media a few weeks ago people have had hundreds or even thousands in the accounts all forgotten about, so hope its okay to add this here for anyone who may be interested. Good luck hope you have something coming back folks.;)

can someone please help me - i've posted on here about a loan i took out with GE Finance in November 2004. The box for PPI is not ticked on the Agreement but I was charged £6300 for a 5 year plan up front - I was not asked about PPI and as I say I did not ticl the box. I have written several times to GE Finance asking for a refund based on misselling and I just get ignored. I repaid the loan after 3 years and cancelled the PPI . I told them I was asking for a full refund but in the meantime a partial refund would be appreciated.

I received £472.50! Now to me £6300 over 60 months is a monthly premium of £105.00 a month, cancelled 22 months early so surely a refund should be £2310. I know they can deduct admin costs ( I can't remember where I read that) but surely £1837.50 for admin costs is excessive.

I sent off my SAR and have received the papers back - no telephone conversation to back up the loan application but it mentions commission of £1280 to broker ( Credit Link - now gone bust) plus a fee tor arranging th loan to VCredit Link.

Where do I go from here? Do I try writing again to GE Finance? But what do i say?

Or do I go for court action - if so do I go for the full amount - would my not ticking a box on the application stand up in court? or do i go for just the refund part and how much would be reasonable to ask back in a refund?

I don't want to give up but GE are not responsive and I am lost as to what i do and how I do it now.

    Thanks in advance

Was this a single premium and how long was the premium for? Was it for the full term of the actual loan? If it was then you have a very good chance of winning for being missold. GE have already been fined haven't they for selling these policies. I would now issue them with a letter stating that you are taking the matter to the FOS/court for misselling. If it was GE capital (were GE Finance part of these???) then you may be able to go to the FOS for this (and you will no doubt win as they have been fined like i say) as they were FSA registered in 2001. You need to check with the FSA or FOS. If it is more than 8 weeks ago that you wrote and they have not responded you have no need to get a "final response" from them and can just make a complaint with FOS. You can download a complaint form from their website. Good luck.

The loan was 22 years but the single premium was only for 5 years.

I have been to FOS and they have said GE Home Finance weren't registered with them in 2004 so they can't help.

I don't want to be saddled with extra costs if I can't win this one but it infuriates me that they can charge for something I didn't want and now the refund is so improportionate to the premium charged.

How do i go about gettign forms to take this to court? How do i know how much I want back? I am so confused by the terms etc.... should I use a company that reclaim for you and deal with all the legal stuff?

Were they part of GE Capital. If they were then can you not go back to the FOS as GE Finance trading as GE Captial.

I would check your paperwork on this one. ALso tiggrae will be able to help you out with the courts if you need them. She is not on at the mo but will probably be on later. M colak is your man for the calculation of how much to ask for but again not on. Check if this company was part of GE Capital and ask at FOS about it. If they were then you may be able to use FOS instead of the courts.

    Take a look here

Was it GE money home finance???

GE Money Home Finance Limited (Registered in England No.592986). Registered Address: 53-61 College Road, Harrow, Middlesex, HA1 1FB.
