Malibulucy wrote: »Hi there looking for a bit of advice. Bought a samsung mini s4 handset on eBay on 02 network. Previous phone was also a samsung on 02 and had no problem putting my 3 SIM card in it. The new phone is asking for a sim unlock code before it will work in the new phone. I'm a tad confused as I thought 02 phones were unlocked as previous experience proved.
I've taken it to the 3 shop to check the sim but they tell me it's definitely the phone. Sim works fine in other phone.
I'm just checking I'm not missing some obvious manufacturers code etc that I need to put in before I take it to some high street shop to be unlocked.
Many thanks
Lucy
Its sounds like its locked to O2 not all O2 phone are unlocked
Normally if you buy though O2 they are locked
If you go though CarPhoneWareHouse none of there phones are locked apart from Iphones which will lock to the first Sim you put in it.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -

Has anyone used officialiphoneunlock.co.uk?
I have wasted £19.99.
I have recently upgraded my iPhone 4s to a 5s on a T-mobile contract. In order to unlock the old 4s, I found the official T-mobile site would charge £26 with a delay of 3 or 4 weeks.
Hence, I used the iPhone unlock site which quoted £19.99 and a possible turn around of 72 hours.
HOWEVER, the £19.99 is a non refundable deposit to go on a waiting list for unlocking. The final sum quoted after I had paid the deposit was £104.99.
The lesson learned is: it is probably cheaper to unlock using your own service provider!0 -
I had been with Tmobile for two years and was happy with the service until it began to slow down towards the end of the contact. It had 100 minutes mobile talk time, 100 texts but also unlimited minutes to landlines which suited me best of all. Additionally 500MB of data was included together with the Sony Neo V handset which could be tethered to a laptop via the wifi output of the phone. The monthly tariff was £16.81.
Concerning the slowing down business, it came to a point where I was receiving 2kb/s and 12 if lucky which my Kaperski anti virus indicated on downloading updates. 64kb/s used to be the norm which is the same rate on wifi as the local library. When I enquired about the slow speed I was told that I had regularly exceeded my data allowance, and I have to thank them for not cutting me off or charging exorbitant rates for the extra data which had always been their stated policy. However things never improved at the start of the new months quota.
Research on the net revealed many complaints regarding slowing down since the introduction of G4 which of course the company has vigorously denied. The proof for myself, however, was the current experience and it was then that I decided to switch provider. One thing I was determined not to do was to be encouraged to adopt 4G with them as a solution. Tmobile then suggested I go for the Moto G but I had already decided that my next purchase would have to be 4G capable, have a removable/replaceable battery and provision for expandable memory via a micro SD card. My present phone would be all I need if only it could be unlocked. Fortunately I do own a sim free LG KU990 but it doesn't receive internet very well. Therefore I was really looking forward to using my old Nokia 3310 for which I had bought a new battery, since I have been weaned off the internet but it is still locked to Orange after an unsuccessful attempt at unlocking it and an unlocked version that has qwerty keys either side of the screen wont work with the 3 Network because it is only 2G. It has been a nightmare all round with, apparently, no hope of being resolved any time soon.
Almost three months has passed since asking for my phone to be unlocked and was even promised an unlock code today which has not yet arrived. This will be the second time that a 72 hour promise has not been kept, meaning no code or reply/explanation at all. Two codes have been sent which did not work and it has been a real nightmare having to waste my time and effort to travel to the EE store by bus to attempt to sort things out. Emails had been responded to originally now they are ignored completely, giving the feeling that perhaps the email address is incorrect.
It was always my intention to stay with Pay as You Go until it could be proved that 3G internet with 3 is a viable option where I live because I did not want to be stuck with a contract that may not be able to deliver and which the only way out is to pay for the whole contract in full.
Buying a locked phone on contract is truly a folly, something I will never do again. I did have the feeling of being a victim of corporate bullying from the beginning but put it aside to give the benefit of the doubt but if you research the net you will find that my experience is not unique:

http://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Off-Topic/Phone-Unlock-End-of-Contract-Customer-Service/m-p/78642
The paper bills leading to the final bill are questionable since there is no transparency in what the none data extras are and two phone numbers for which I was charged extra for outside of the contract in fact belong to two of my close family members so had been used throughout the contract.
At the end of the contract Tmobile requested that I answer a survey via text and at that time I was willing to give a full 10. However it was conditional, mindful that the phone had not yet been unlocked so I replied '10 so far'. They were not happy with that and wanted an absolute answer to which I thought I would award a 5 but in the end did not send another reply. Since then it had reduced to a 2 and at this time a zero would be too much. It's not criminal. It's within the rules0 -
I use next service for unlock iPhone:
1. att-iphone-unlock.com - this web site proposal best price for AT&T USA carrier unlock.
2. letsunlockiphone5.com - good service with one of the best reputation in web.
3. If you need unlock Samsung smartphone use digitalunlocking.com service. This online service proposal permanent unlock Samsung phone from USA, Europe, Asia etc.
I use all this service. All receive unlock code in time.
Any way you can use other service for unlock your gadget, but first off all find review about it! You can use trustpilot to find good service, for example trustpilot.co.uk/search?query=unlock+iphone - good reputation have only couple of service.
Be careful!!! Now many scam site proposal unlock for iphone, samsung etc!0 -
EE charge £20 and takes 60 days for Samsung phonesOxfordmark
Home owner from Friday 26th July 2013!0 -
Very clever website that makes you think your paying one price but when it comes to the unlock you should add an additional 80% onto what you have already paid. This is in the FAQ section at the bottom of the page but you have to go looking hard to find it. Don't believe your first price, I was had for £23 !!! Not recommend..0
