I smell
Firstly, many networks don't charge anything.
Secondly, there are companies that charge less than £16:

Unfortunately my network (T-mobile) wanted to charge me for unlocking my phone, maybe they only choose who to charge !!! in relation to the price i know that there are cheaper services but that time there wasn't many that i could find and the websites looked really bad, i prefer to pay 1 or 2£ more and be sure that i wont be cheated! hopefully that clarify my previous comment! thanks :-)0

My apologies then.
Yes, T-mobile are one of a few that do charge.0 -
Hi,
I have just bought a reduced price Sony Xperia Tipo (On Orange) thinking it would be relatively cheap to unlock (I want to use my 3 sim) It seems though, that it is going to cost around £20 to do this which, to be honest, defeats the object for me. Is this a realistic price for an unlock code? if so, I will probably return the phone to Asda and get something else.
Thanks0 -
Making assumptions is a dangerous business.
Where have you bought it from? Are you sure it's locked?
I don't see this phone at giffgaff's Unlockapedia, but for other Xperias £20 seems to be a realistic price, although they show some company doing this for £15.0 -
Ive been trying to get an unlock code for a sony xperia c2105 from vodafone for 2 weeks now latest email is:
"Thanks for getting in touch about unlocking your phone. When we checked the details you gave us we couldn’t find a match for the IMEI number on your account. We need your IMEI number (a unique serial number) before we can unlock it."
my imei is correct.
I bought the phone second hand and want to unlock to work on 3. I have a vodafone sim and number that I topped up with £20 for the unlock fee. Im getting fed up now. no one seems to be able to help I've sent numerous emails been on webchat twice first time, a week last Saturday, I was told the code would be available to vodafone last monday. but still no code.0 -
