    Hi all,

I have an Iphone 4 which is locked into a contract with Orange.

However I would like to change to pay as you go with "Three"

I recently updated the OS to OS7 and have read that it is not possible to jailbreak this OS yet and apparently an iphone needs to be jailbroken before it can be unlocked.

I also read its impossible to go back to the previous operating system from OS7.

So, is there any way that I could get the phone unlocked? Could I restore factory settings maybe and revert back to an earlier OS?

    Thanks.

Just ask Orange to unlock it. The phone is yours. If you are still in contract with Orange, you will have to continue to pay until the end of your minimum term or request to end the contract and pay a lump sum to do so

    Hi Phil,

If you’ve had the phone for less than 12months, the network unlock code (NUC) is £19.99. Once this is over 12 months old, there’s no charge.

You can request your NUC on our website, just type in ‘network unlock code’ in the search bar.

You do have a 7 day cooling off period though, if you decide to return the phones.

    Thanks,

Unfortunately this is not true for PAYG - must pay £20 regardless of time held. It may have been true a year ago (when I bought my Huawei G300) but appears that the info on the website may have been edited to introduce a fee. The unlock guide on this site also says it's free which was probably correct at the time of publication.

I bought my phone on the understanding that I need only hold Vodafone PAYG for 1 year. Excepting international deal, there are no others that suit me.

My only option is to find a Virtual Vodafone network - Asda is, but will soon switch to EE.

    Vodafone, I am very annoyed.
  • I've a Samsung S2 that I got on contract with O2 from buymobilephones.net.

I have tried three times now to get an unlock code from O2, who are my network provider.

Every time, initially it is all OK. Then I get a message saying they can't give me an unlock code as I didn't buy the phone direct from O2...

Buymobilephones tell me they can't give me an unlock code, it has to come from the network provider.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

I have an old Siemens mobi on Orange pay as you go and only top up £10 per year as I only have it in the car for emergencies and I am on an old tariff.I make sure I use it every six months to avoid being cut off - I am a pensioner and need to find the best deal so any help/advice would be very mucyh appreciated
I keep looking at Sims at the checkout in Tesco and I know what they are (as I have read up on that part)and I have read through this thread in the hope of finding out if I can buy any Sim and then put it in my phone to get a better call rate - 40p per minute at the mo'
I have looked at Orange, Racoon deal 14p per minute and it looks good to me (if they will let me switch to that)so wondered if I should stay with them anyway but I would still like to know if I could buy any Sim and use it or as I seem to think from reading this thread I would need a code to unlock - my phone is about 8 years old so I presume Orange will give me an unlocking code for free anyway
I feel lost when it comes to this sort of thing so any advise please - thanks

I want to unlock my t-mobile supplied GT-N7000 (Note 1) but this model doesn't appear on any of the suggested weblinks ...
The phone is mine - I paid for it and am incensed that t-mobile believe that they can restrict my use of it to their network.

Tmobile want to charge me over £20 for this - and tell me that it will take 60 days to carry out !!

  • Do you know your Doro 611 is locked ?

Often that sort of phone isn't sold locked to a network as there is little subsidy.

Try a Vodafone PAYG SIM and see what happens.

  • Hi there looking for a bit of advice. Bought a samsung mini s4 handset on eBay on 02 network. Previous phone was also a samsung on 02 and had no problem putting my 3 SIM card in it. The new phone is asking for a sim unlock code before it will work in the new phone. I'm a tad confused as I thought 02 phones were unlocked as previous experience proved.
I've taken it to the 3 shop to check the sim but they tell me it's definitely the phone. Sim works fine in other phone.
I'm just checking I'm not missing some obvious manufacturers code etc that I need to put in before I take it to some high street shop to be unlocked.

    Many thanks
    Lucy
