Subject: Bush TV/DVD Combi product no 5361108

Bush TV/DVD combi (Product No: 536/1108)

I refer to your order for the above product and thank you for placing an order with Argos.co.uk

Unfortunately there were was an accidental error on the price shown on our website for this product during 27th August causing the product to be advertised for £0.49 rather than the correct price of £349.99. This error has now been rectified and in accordance with Condition 4.2(b) of our Website terms and conditions I am writing to advise you of this problem.

We have therefore had to reject all orders placed at the incorrect price in accordance with Condition 2.3 of our Website terms and conditions and with regret we cannot accept your order.

On behalf of Argos I apologise for the inconvenience caused and can assure you that any charges debited to your payment card, will be fully refunded as soon as possible.

Thank you again for your custom with Argos.

    Yours faithfully,

    Mari-Ann Wiggin
    ARG Contact Centre Manager

I have repiled to this message asking why the funds were taken from my account (TAKEN not RESERVED) after they noted this mistake and if they will be refunding the interest they gained on my money aswell!

Had my email through a few minutes ago...

I paid by debit card so they had already agreed to the sale but can't be bothered with loads of hassle, just sent them a very nicely worded email which I also sent to trading standards and watchdog just to see what happens. At th every least I would expect some compensation vouchers!!

Just spoke to their customer service team who have all had a memo put on their desks today that simply says the exact same as the email we were all sent. None of them can give any more information which I would expect from a call centre but have forwarded my complaint to them customer.relations@argos.co.uk

The informative girl also said, quote, 'You don't have a leg to stand on since the TV was not delivered'. She also said that they have been told NOT to offer any compensation in relation to this!!

Will be fun keeping up with the correspondence on this one!

  • I ordrered 3 lots of 5 televisions from homebase for friends / family.
My credit card was debited today twice for £7.40, the the third lot wasn't taken, even though I have 3 confirmation e-mails.
I have found some info here, it may or not be useful.

    http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/general/advertising/fs_p01.shtml

    it states, ironically

"However, a trader who mistakenly prices a product (for example, “28 inch widescreen television for £39.90” instead of £399) is not obliged to honour that price unless the transaction has already been completed. The trader must nevertheless take immediate steps to rectify the mistake."

Now how can I make the most money. Try to buy things from the Internet that are obviously pricing errors and get my home insurance legal team to try to enforce specific performance. If as a previous poster mentioned cheaper for them to just supply the goods to you I could get a free TV, PC etc :j

Else I set up a website selling Laptops for £3.50. Ok I never have any intention of selling them at £3.50 but 1000's will order giving me their CC details. I will make sure my T&C allow for pricing errors but I will take their money as soon as they place orders. Then due to the volume of orders take 10 days to refund customers. All legal and above board. :rotfl:

Just checked my bank, the money has come out tonight, how can they keep getting away with taking the money when they are supposed to be refunding it?

On the bright side - money taken, no cancellation e-mail!!!!!!!!

Absolutely gutted about Paul Walker - RIP xx
