The biggest issue I have which you seem to think is ok is that they TOOK OUR MONEY, AND STILL HAVE IT(in most cases is seems)..
and yes I write in caps so you can see my main point more clearly.
The money wasn't reserved it was taken..
That's not right.. No matter how much it was. This is the thing that needs to change.0 -
YES QUITE AGREE benflynn my argument too.0

Just checked my HSBC Current account and £5.44 has just been taken from my account. :mad:0

They took money from me, appearing on my statement yesterday, but it does state transaction date of the 27th, so they might have taken it before and it only just showed up?0

Move on, find the next proper bargain, and don't waste time and money chasing fools gold.
You make some sensible points here. However;
1) Argos have a long history of similar mistakes
2) A contract has been entered into - they have accepted the order, and taken the money.
3) They were stupid enough to allow thousands of orders to be placed - seemingly unconcerned enough and I suspect with a degree of arrogant certainty of their legal position to allow orders to pile up until a time when it was most cost effective to sort them out.
4) They certainly haven't refunded my money
5) As the owner of a website, I make sure it's my business to monitor, at least every six hours, that this kind of thing doesn't become the farce that this has.
6) When you make a mistake, it's a better policy to apologise and offer some kind of deal - this way everyone feels better.
7) Over 67,000 people have been reading this thread. I doubt many will have been impressed with the utterly limp "apology" that some people have received.
8) OK, I accept that anyone placing this order would really not have expected a TV for 49p. However, when was the last time you attempted to return a faulty item to Argos, outside of their T&C's, but well within the sale of goods act? It's like getting blood out of a stone.
Without wishing to sound that vindictive, for every transaction they've taken, they will have paid commission. For every refund they make, they'll have to do the same. I think it says volumes about the way the company is run that they allowed so many orders to build up. And then act so slowly in resolving the problems.
The truth is, they really couldn't care less about these mistakes - if they did, they would have acted more quickly in removing the offer, more quickly in sending an apology, and more thoughtfully in it's contents - instead of the basic message that says "get stuffed".0 -
Wow! All these "pocket" lawyers quoting this law and that law.
Why can't you "unqualified legal eagles" just give it a rest??
Please stop all the bleating. We tried a bit of fun gamble and it didn't pay off.
No amount of posting legal snippets will change this. Let's Move On!!
Next possible bargain please!!!!GoMakeDatMonee :cool:0 -

Ok, we may not get the TV's.Yes most of us may have read some of their t@c's but some posts are saying that money has been taken. At the moment I note 56003 viewings of these posts with 748 replies.
Whilst I have not read everyone yet,I would ask if there is a solicitor out there who could post some free advice as to the taking of money.I guess there is still no contract as the company could argue the banking system pays automatically.Sorry there I go again being a 'u.l.e'0 -

So if one company can do it why cant another ? I vote that we all hold a mass picket outside their shops if they dont come up with the tvs for the people whose money they have took
.That will get them free publicity !

Can I bring my tele along?0 -
Just checked my credit card and Argos group,(Homebase)have taken the money, transaction had not gone through at 10pm yesterday so they are still taking money!!!!.It could have been stopped because the Kays garden bench showed up as "transaction pending" and they managed to avoid actually taking the money, dont know how but they did,it never showed on the statement but was on line as pending. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
