I've just read on a webpage that " order confirmation " means that the order has been accepted & that the payment details have also been accepted by the supplier . A contract has therefore been made once the payment has been taken !

No doubt argos will start the phone calls tomorrow lol, It will be interesting to see if they use the same excuse with all of us, or if the excuses vary.

I reckon it will take them weeks to sort out this mess if they are going to ring everyone that has placed an order.

My guess is that we all will get an email sometime Tuesday saying the orders are cancelled due to a misprice on the website.

This is going to be fun to watch over the next few days/weeks.

Just a thought have been researching European Consumer Law, and have downloaded a complaint form, they take misleading e-commerce advertising, unfair commercial practices very seriously. Have pilot schemes running to help consumers in a number of EU countries, [not GB] nearest is Holland. Oh by the way guess where the ARGOS groups other company is based Holland. Ready and waiting to take on the board.
  • Tallyho - Did u have any luck checking the order status on their website.

    Generating a receipt
When a payment is actually cleared online, the clearing house will send your website confirmation (or the dreaded card declined message!) so that a receipt and/or order confirmation can be automatically generated for the customer. This is done by writing an online programme that runs on the web server.
