I don't know why all of you are getting excitied anyway...Homebase are going to spot the error then inform all of you the real price ... but you can away with it if anyone can get the order the next day, which is impossible because the delivery is set up to 21 days...Its better to close your mouth and appear stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt...:p0

They had better not try charging to our cards the full price! What happens if they charge more than we have agreed? ie: 49p for the telly and £4.95 shipping? Wish I'd not ordered now but got swept away with it all...
We are not going to get these for 49p, no way....~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
Not all of us are excited. If we get them that would be great but I think many of us doubt they will honor this. But we live in hope, no harm in trying.0

Must be almost a hundred of us ordered now - we only need one lawyer! In reality the whole thing would be cheaper for them to honour the sales surely? These items probably only cost them a £100 apiece - therefore 100 x 100 = £10000 - cheap to avoid publicity and loss of customers, goodwill etc.
What do you all think?
Gawd,
This is typical MSE-er understanding of " economics ".
Why do you think, or even know that it is only £100 ?
Because some other MSE-er said that big companies make profits and screw consumers, blah, blah, blah. Or the bloke down the pub said it to an MSE-ers hubby, who told her, but it was a bit complicated, so she just guessed then stuck it up in a recent post ?
Please give us your reasoning.
More likely, the truth is that the real price they charge for this (not this mistake which they will not honour), they are making a tiny mark up as competition is tight against their competitors.
They instead make their profits by "upselling" a scart lead at £10 that could be obtained from a pound shop, or an overpriced insurance policy.
Please ...0 -

Retail businesses tend to operate on a Gross Profit Margin of 30% - 60% and of course every business has its loss leaders to get us in the door. Argos/Homebase with their buying power will command a good discount from their suppliers - basic economicsThe best way to escape a problem is to solve it :j0 -

Hehe....Got a external CD-RW sitting next to me which I bought for £20.00 from Staples..Brand New unopened, also a USB modem which comes with a USB cable for £5.00. This was about 6 weeks back
PC world had the CD-RW on display a few days back for £79.99.
Now does that indicate that Staples are selling at a loss or just a small mark up compared to PC World........The Profit big companies get is a lot more than small companies as they buy bulk and get a better deal from the manufactures....
Get heads out of sand and look at electronics on Ebay...the prices abroad are far cheaper than in the UK, even with import tax the prices wouldn't be 3x what they charge for the same items in the UK...companies want profit and a lot want a lot of profit.Welcome, rogerramjet.

i don't even think it's a mistake
and i will be very suprised if one person manages to get one!
i had the exact same situation with ebuyer over a samsung tv...it was a 32" 100hz widescreen for £28...
they treated that as an invitation to treat... they told me to whistle..
the same will happen..
ebuyer even took my money!0
