Hi Jodie,
The question of cash back claims one that currently is causing concern to great many people, particularly on this web site forum. I think that as most of us have only been aware of, and using, these deals for around 12 months a lot of us are now approaching the time when the cash back is due. Also, it does appear to me that lots of unheard of companies are currently advertising amazing, maybe too good to be true, deals. The whole area is becoming a big gamble and it is near impossible to have confidence in the companies offering these deals.
Maybe it is about time for Martin to set up a customer survey to collate users experiences with different companies & thereby provide a much more reliable picture of the firms involved.
As for your problems, it does sound as though Phonebox Direct have been particularly difficult with your claim. If you have followed their instructions correctly (often down to interpretation needing clarification from their CS dept) then you may be best off by threatening them with the small claims court. According to similar theads on this site, this does seem to work very well.
BTW, why on earth did you choose to become involved with such a complicated cash back deal, there are much easier ones around.

All the terms and conditions are sent in links to the confirmation email they sent you - complete with all the Cashback application forms. I also thought that I didnt receive them them - but rest assured, its all in the emails - just all the ones they sent you.0 -
Yes, I know this deal is a bit of a pain with all the claiming required to get the cashback but at the time it was the best deal I could find for a free handset and 'free' (hopefully) line rental for a year.
I do have the claim forms printed out but I don't have the confirmation emails etc as when I upgraded my Broadband recently, NTHell (NTL) 'lost' a load of my emails. I decided the best thing was to write them a 'nice' email (which was painful)
My email to them:
Hi there,
Thanks for that information. I have read these terms on your website: http://www.phoneboxdirect.com/terms.htm and presume that these apply to me. I don't have my original emails as when I upgraded my broadband NTL 'lost' a lot of my emails from my inbox, and unfortunately yours were some of them. I do have printed out the cashback forms, so I think I only need to know what my reference number is (it seems I have three??) to put on the form, and how much to put on each claim ( is it just £360 divided by 12 x however many months I'm claiming for at one time??)
I'm sorry to be a nuisance to you by keep on asking questions that I should already know, but there really is no way of me finding out those details as my emails were 'lost'.
Thank you in advance.
Also, I never did get sent anything in the post confirming my insurance on my phone, so I had to ask them for details of the company etc and all they would give me was the phone number.
I guess I'll just have to hope that they are kind enough to tell me my account number etc, otherwise I'm stuck by the looks of things.0 -
The_Tired_One,
Did they pay you your cashback? I'm due to send my 1st form off in about one month.0 -

Hi Jodie - I ve only just taken the deal out with them - thats why I knew where all the Terms & Conditioins were.
We can only hope for what happens 12 months down the line....0 -
ive just seen a deal with phonebox direct which gives a LG B2050 phone 500x mins 200texts per month for £35 a month and with £420 cash back
is it too good to be true?O0 -
It is only too good to be true if they do not pay up! Other retailers have had cashback at this level (Mobileshop have one at the moment on o2) and The Link and others had £350/£360 etc.
The page linked off their t&c indicates 5 equal installments therefore cashback/12*5 would appear appropriate.

However, personally considered them back in January but decided to pay £35 for the year and go with one offer from The Link on a recon (cashback through Quidco and phone trade in brought 10 months free down to nearly 11) as I couldn't find enough about them to satisfy myself that they will honour the cashback.

I have seen various people have comments about phoneboxdirect.com and the cash backs. As I was thinking of going for one of there deals, can anyone tell me if they have got the cashback or not.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide me with.0 -
I took a phone from phonebox direct about 7 months ago, and so far the cashback has been faultless (2 cheques received for 4 & 6 months, within about 2 weeks of sending in the form).
Of course, you have to be *very* careful to remember to send in the cashback forms on time, since one late claim -> all future cashbacks lost!0 -
Hi
I am currently on a 12 month free on a 12 month contract with phonebox direct on a 3 g tariiff, the terms and conditions seem rather confusing, its staes that :
Instalment 1: - Send us the claim form and original bill that arrives showing you’ve been connected for 120 days. i.e. if you were connected on the 1st of January, you need to send in the bill that is dated around the 1st of May. This is 120 days (4months) after connection.
does this mean i send in my 4th bill or 5th bill as i connected 15th Feb so technically:
15th feb- 15th Mar-30days
15th Mar-15th April-30days
15th APR- 15th May-30days
15th May- 15th June-30days
total = 120 days
does this mean i send in my May bill or June bill, as i have in total 4 bills from 3G at the moment? anyone had simiar experiances with phonebox direct? as in the the example its stated it shows a Jan with the May bill thats 5 months????Any info would be helpful thanks0
