I would suggest writing to the guy I did, then everything is documented. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this.January - Nintendo Wii, 2 x Lush bath bombs :j

I'm absolutely stunned by all of the feedback on here about this company. I used My Moviestream for months and found their service to be great and easily the best DVD rental company that i've ever used.
I only had to go out of my way to contact them once and that was to cancel, which I did online without any problem at all.0 -
Also I forgot to say- I asked the fella on the phone if he could send me a letter detailling what I am paying for and if possible some way of me paying over the counter in my local branch, he said no. So I just asked if I could get a letter detailing the service etc, he said it would cost £10. He said any letter they would sendme would cost £10 so I just said ok, send me the letter and he said I have to pay £10 first. Anyone ever heard of that? Paying £10 up front for a letter telling you whay you are paying for? Not even a late payment bill. I know some banks etc send out payment reminders and charge for them, or try and charge an admin fee but paying up front for a letter?
It seems there are a couple of lucky people who have had no probs and hundreds who have had a dreadful time. I am ranting here because I am still reeling at how badly he man spoke to meBy this time next year we'll be millionaires......
Personal challenge- Make an extra£5 a day for May from may 6th....and not spend it!0 -
I have a different problem with mymoviestream -I have lost the dvds (3 in all) that I received recently, somewhere in the house. Not sure what I should do. On the customer services page there is nothing to say that YOU have lost the dvds, only that they have even been lost in the post going to or from My Movie Stream. Will I have to pay for them and if so how much do they charge??Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0

Unless they got lost in the post and you have a proof of posting receipt then lost is lost.
I believe the DVD's that are put out for rental are typically a different type and price to the ones that we can buy and are more expensive.0 -
We had exactly the same problem - returned the dvds then tried to cancel. We were unable to cancel on the website so wrote to them via recorded delivery - no reply. I phoned but was told that I couldn't cancel over phone or by writing. I paid them for about 4 months while I tried to sort it out, then cancelled the dd. I kept replying to their emails asking for payment and wrote again.
Access to the account on the web was cancelled by MyMovieStream (our log-in details stopped working and we had no reply to our requests for a new password/username).
We are now being chased by CARRS debt collectors and have explained out situation to them. CARRS are going back to MyMovieStream and will let us know the outcome of their discussions.
We 'owe' MMS approx 90 in unpaid monthly fees, but are being chased for 210 as MMS now say that they did not receive our original dvds back.
Having read your thread, I'm now going to contact our local trading standards office and hope they will be able to help.
To be honest, I'm willing to go to court over this - I'm so cross about it.0 -
If anyone has legal cover on their household insurance have you tried making a claim for this contractual dispute? Even if you can't make a claim they will give you free legal advice and the whole thing won't impact on your no claims either. I've used the service a few times and it was superb. TBH, just a threatening letter from a solicitor normally does the trick.
This whole thing is scandalous and is well worthy of a slot on Watchdog.0 -
Well, I sent the DVD's back two days ago and today I recieved emails saying they had recieved them. My account is cancelled and I printed off the cancellation notice from the website when I cancelled. The rude guy I spoke to said he put the link back up to cancel has he had just collected payment from my account, but no funds have left the account AND they wont be leaving has I told the bank what had happend and they said the olny thing they could do was treat it as online fraud (or words to thateffect) and they cancelled the card I paid them with, but only after the funds should have left the account.
I have evidence that I cancelled my account, I have a reciept from the post office from posting the DVD's and I also have the emails they sent me to say that they have recieved the DVD's.
I'm only worried because the emails say that my next DVDS will be sent out shortly, I have logged into the account and deleted all DVDs from the list, but it's still reading I have one disc in list, but there are non.
If I get a letter asking for money now they are in BIG TROUBLE! I will be straight to the soliciters office. There is no way they will get money out of me without a major fight.
I think they will argue I am still a member has my account has been logged into, but I have cancellation, the only thing I needed to do to confirm that was return the DVDS within 7 days and they got there in less than that.By this time next year we'll be millionaires......

I'm worried, reading the above. I recently joined MyMovieStream through an offer on cashbackkings.
I've listed most of the disks I wanted to watch, and then intend to cancel my membership once I've watched them all.
I shall make sure I read the T&C in full and print out a copy before returning anything tho!
Definately think everyone having trouble with customer services should put in formal complaints and go see CAB!
Good luck!0 -
Same happened to me. I joined Mymoviestream beginning of 2007. closed my account as hardly ever received anything, heard nothing until a few months ago got a letter from C.A.R.S stating i owed £148.00 because i appartently signed a 12 month contract. I know i did not as i read the terms and conditions before signing up and i never signed anything else. I re read the terms and conditions on site and nothing mentioned about a contract. I am now disputing it and writing to C.A.R.S requesting so called proof of this but funny how 8 weeks later no proof. I got one letter advising if i didnt pay it may go to court blah blah but i can not see how they would win as this contract doesnt exist. My advice is avoid mymoviestream.com!!! Also dont bother ringing them if u do get a letter as no one listens to what u say!!0
