Mymoviestream problems

I would advise anyone worried about this to ensure that they request a breakdown of all the costs incurred - the onus is on them to provide you with proof of the debt, so dont' enter into any deal or payment plan with them until you see exactly what you are being billed for. Keep us posted, this sounds a bit dubious and I would hate anyone to end up paying through fear of repurcussions if they don't actually owe any money.0

My experience with moviestream was similar but not as severe- after cancelling my account they continued to bill me for 2 months more. Luckily I noticed and called them. They stopped charging me but no chance of a refund. Customer Services there leave a lot to be desired.
I hope you all get it sorted out.odi et amo0 -
I also received a letter frmo C.A.R.S. today. I had an account a few years ago and cancelled it by phone as I was abroad at the time. There didn't seem to a problem with this, and I never heard any more about it.
I since moved and opened a new account at my new address no probs.
Now the letter from CARS REQUESTS £269.83 !! This apparently is for the account I cancelled, moviestream are saying that it is not possible to cancel by phone. Hmmmm.
I pointed out I have another account etc, they agreed to cancel the £269, however I am now concerned that this could affect my credit rating if they simply write this off? Anybody have any advice here? Thanks0 -
I received a letter from cars today asking for over £300 re a movie stream account. That seems to beat everyone here. its for over 26 months rental...
Can they really do this? Everyone should forward their issues to the newspapers and watchdog for example.0 -

I think I have you all beaten. I had a letter yesterday from CARS saying I owe mymoviestream £374.76. When I rang CARS were unable to tell me what the amount was for, but said if I paid them then and there they would knock off 25%. I declined as I don't know why I owe this money. I have not used mymoviestream for approx 2 years, have not received any emails/letters/calls from them regarding any outstanding money, but have received emails inviting me to rejoin them. Is there anything that can be done?0

Just put in a report on the watchdog website,i reccomend you all do the same if you've been affected by this.I'm on a nice easy 20 quid a month scheme till december 31st, but its still burning a hole in my pocket grrr... and no discount offered to me.0

I stopped using them ages ago but you've all got me worried now and expecting a letter.
Is it the case that everyone that's getting these letters canceled by phone? I canceled online and the only contact i've had since from them is e-mails asking me to come back.
I suppose everyone's already read it but here's what it says for cancellations in their T&C's...
Account Cancellation
You may make an account Cancellation Request at any time, unless there are outstanding payments due on your account which must be cleared before cancellation. For security reasons, to make a Cancellation Request, you must log in to your account using your username and password and follow the "Cancellation Request" link in the MyAccount area of the MyMovieStream website. Cancellation Requests may only be made in this way and cannot be made by telephone, email, post or other means. If you have joined MyMovieStream on a Free Trial offer and wish to cancel during your Free Trial, you must do so before you return your final Trial disc(s) AND within a set number of weeks of joining, as specified when you start your Free Trial.0 -

I have to admit to not reading the terms and conditions. Also, I didn't cancel with them: I had a payment fail and didn't want to continue with them, so didn't contact them to pay them the outstanding month. Maybe I am slightly to blame, but still they never contacted me for payment which they should've done before contacting setting the debt recovery agency onto me. I'm worried as they are chasing me for rather a large sum of money, and I don't want any trouble from them, or more costs to mount up, or be taken to court over this, so I've contacted CARS and paid them. Also have put in a report on the Watchdog website, but this has me so worried that I'd rather just pay the amount and not have any more trouble. More often than not it is the little guy that loses out against the big companies.0
