We live in Spain and have made a few bob off the timeshare touts - hard to believe but true.
We completely ignore them but one was so persistent we told him we lived here and he said - do you want to earn equivalent of £50 - I need one more person to go to the presentation and I have my quota done. He put us in a taxi and off we went - spent 2 hours with my OH asking stupid questions and then said we were off. We were made to feel we had just missed the best opportunity of our lives but hey ho. Taxi back home with a bottle of vodka and a bottle of wine which we were promised on arrival and made sure we got and the money we were given by the tout before we went. Had to make out we were on holiday whilst at the presentation.
We still see him and have been a couple of times since - to a different office - and it's not a bad return for 3 hours of boredom. The lad told us he gets £100 if he fills his quota so half for him and half for us.0 -
I just got a phone call from "Reclaim investment bank" in Gibraltar, at Garrison house, I can only presume they are a phoenix of one of the companies on here.
They say they are a bank and want me to go to the Canaries to reclaim some money paid for points back in the late 90's
I have been approached before by a different company who turned out to require money up front to return my money and these seem to want the same.
How can these companies get away with conning people?0 -

It is hard to imagine how but we can't judge everyone by our own standards.0 -

My parents have been dubbed by Club Class and they had "Reclaim investment bank" on the phone yesterday who said that the original paperwork was not correct. My dad was then emailed by Pro-Call Corporate Services SL in Madrid (has anyone heard of them?) who are working with Reclaim and they that my dad should travel to Tenerife to meet a consultant who will re-register his claim, he paid £259 registration fee.
I have looked at all on this forum and am extremely worried as i am sure it is just another scam. I have told my dad to contact his credit card company to stop the payment.
Any ideas on how to try to get back any of the money?0 -
Please, never ever pay more money in the vain hope of getting money you have already lost in the first scam. Never believe in a cashback scheme either, after 22 years advising the industry I have yet to find anyone who gets it. It is either because the 'insurance' company that was supposed to pay out no longer exists, if it ever did, or they discover you failed to comply with clause 33 (1) (D) which means you just happen to be the only person who won't be able to claim the money back. Never act on unsolicited phone calls, about anything not just timeshare, and never assume someone has your best interests at heart. The only interest they have is earning the commission they get from mugging another customer. Cashback Europe appears to have ceased trading, according to a report in the Daily Mirror in 2009, worrying since it appears their own newspaper was accepting advertising from the company behind it.0

I got stung by these cowboys but if it is of any help to anybody else I have found a claims company in Milton Keynes who have solicitors who will pursue these guys on a no win no fee arrangement and don't want any money upfront .
Appears the credit card company who I paid a deposit on is jointly and severally liable not just for the deposit but for the whole amount !
Will keep you all informed of the progress . Must be confident of winning if they don't want any money upfront .0 -
Can you tell me the company you use for no win no fee?
Has anyone actually gone to tenerife to meet following call from Pro-Call Corporate Services SL
El Pinar, Calle Pinar 5, 28006 Madrid?
Thank you0 -
Please don't even think of going to Spain or Tenerife to get help, all they will do is try and sell you another timeshare, that's why they want you to go! There is great advice on the website of the Timeshare Consumers Association, please if you are thinking of buying or now desperately trying to sell, read the information first. Its free (unusual in this business) and sensibel.0

Just had an e-mail from Cashback Europe to say as we are a day late with our "claim" we will not be entitled to any money back. I can respond within 7 days if I don't agree with their ruling. Is it worth the effort of pursuing? Has anyone ever had any money back?0

Dear Rosemary, I fear you got a standard letter that everyone gets. Unless they have a registered office in the UK, in which case it might be worth trying to take legal action, or you can prove the documents did get there on time, a regsitered postal delivery for example and you originally paid by credit card, then you might be able to make a claim for breach of contract against the credit card issuer. If niether of those situations applies, I fear you must assume there never was going to be a cashback0
