When in Gran Canaria last year, I went along for a "free tour" of a complex,

Sounds like ANFI Timeshare, was it? These guys do seem to be open about being a timeshare so I don't see it as a swindle as such. I've never been to the resort so don't know if they hard sell or not.

BUT, you do get the underhanded A*#£holes who try and trick you with the scratchcards, then try to get you to sign up to a holiday club (it was Design Vacation).

Don't ever take a scratchcard! Just say F*ck off and walk away!

Yeah, it was the ANFI, and they don't call it a timeshare, they call it a Holiday Purchase, but they are very open.. there is a bit of a !!!!!!!!ting sense on the video they make you watch, but the guy showing us around, was very laid back, and taking the !!!! out of they have to clap when someone gets a deal.. he was amusing..

They don't hard sell, it's laid back, it's a tour, a bit of a sale pitch, but when we said no, and we needed to go, he wanted to show us the last bit of the complex, the older section. We refused, saying we had to get back, to "mother", and he accepted that straight away, got some forms signed, and we picked up our tickets, and we were on our way.

if we had seen it all, and dithered, then yes, they might have started selling a bit more, but I think he knew he wasn't going to sell us anything, and took us around, we had a laugh, and got some freebies!

  • They don`t just try to get you from abroad. I have been trying to dump our timeshare and National Timeshare Helpline contacted me to visit an address in Maidenhead where there would be American buyers wanting to aquire timeshares. We ended up at Club Class Concierge, who tried to flog us a cash back deal. We would not play ball and they offered to take our timeshare for a fee of 3x our annual maintenance charge. With that we left, money in pocket. They have contacted me again trying to squeeze the money out of us. I am so glad I visited this site - thank you.
  • Thank you Clubclasscon. You have confirmed what we thought we knew prior to our meeting, explained below:

A meeting was recently set up for us by ETOO at an office in Stafford with a company we were told would make us an offer on our timeshare. We went with the impression that we were going to a receive 50%-70% offer of the original cost.
Details of the meeting were sent to us via email. We really should have heard alarm bells before we drove the 100 miles, as there was no company name, no contact name or business number - just an address of an office within the Tollhouse Industrial Estate in Stafford.

On arrival, more alarm bells should have rang as the offices were bare, except for a few tables and chairs dotted about and some posters covering the walls. With the lack of office furniture and general office clutter that surely comes after trading for 7 months, we deduced that it would probably take them less than an hour to pack up and leave, leaving no trace behind them what-so-ever.
We enquired about the name of the company and why it wasn't clear on the outside of the building, and we were not given any clear answer, apart from they were Club Class Concierge.

The ‘paperwork’ we viewed looked like it had been drawn up on Microsoft Word by a school child. There was no registered information about the company, no address or contact details at all. Just the name Club Class Concierge at the top.

We were told we wouldn’t find anyone that we could give our timeshare away too, not even the resort we bought it from. Dave then went on to show us lists of similar apartments to ours from a carefully selected website that were being offered to interested buyers for £0.00 – which, according to him proved the resorts wouldn’t take them back and we would most certainly be left with spiralling maintenance fees, increasing by at least 20% every year. A very hard sell indeed.

The whole set-up had SCAM written all over it before Dave even started to try and convince us our timeshare was worth £8,000 (which they had to barter for with a second company?) and to part with £4,000 of our money in exchange for membership to their company, relinquishing our timeshare to them, no more maintenance fees and entry into Cashback Europe plc where we could expect to receive 100% of our money back, plus fees, within 36 months.
I asked if they could guarantee this, and they said if we read the terms and conditions of Cashback Europe and offered a voucher at the right time we would. I asked to see the terms and conditions, but they couldn’t/wouldn’t offer me any.

We asked a lot of fundamental questions about contracts, legal binding documents, regulations, why they wouldn’t accept credit card payments (alarm bells, alarm bells, alarm bells) and why we had to sign on the line there and then or we wouldn’t be allowed back through the door - and we got a very aggressive response, where ‘Dave’ walked away and left us. Probably hoping we’d just go away. There seemed nothing genuine or trust worthy about the whole set-up.

When he returned, he told us we were really ‘too young’ and ‘not desperate’ enough to use their service. He then went on to tell us his usual customers were the elderly who had been paying maintenance fees for years and could no longer cope with the payments and were looking for a way out.

I asked for a telephone number so that we could make another appointment once we had researched their company, and we were told that it was by appointment only and we couldn’t ring (???) Made no sense to us either, as we needed a number to make an appointment?

We’d already mentioned their links to ETOO, which they firmly denied, and we were told not to go through them again as they got commission on every person they referred to CCC. So, how exactly are we supposed to get back in touch?

These people are vile, unscrupulous and will take the shirt off your back given half the chance.

Before we give our timeshare back to our resort and cut our losses, has anyone come across a genuine company that can help us sell our timeshare - or is relinquishing it back to the resort the best option?

My mum and dad have just got back from benidorm, and have been scammed by this company. they have contacted them and told them they want to cancel. I have read that some people have managed to get their deposit back, but these were all people that paid by credit card, my parents paid by switch. Anybody know anything about going about getting a refund back?
    Thanks very much!
we actually got our money back via mastercard £1170 euros to be exact - we ad to send all details etc by fax and it took 6 weeks but at least we got the refund. good luck
  • My wife and I were approached in Tenerife in 2007 by a bunch called Great British Marketing and yes, we ended up with a £5000 loan from Northern Rock for fantastic holidays from Club Class Concierge. Basically, just about everything we were told was lies. We would get flights for around £100 each and the accommodation would be around £125 per week each. When we eventually received our Club Class Concierge membership pack and I was able to log on and find out a bit, it turned out that flights to Cyprus would cost us £626 for the two of us, I was told on the phone. Investigating the price of accommodation prove that it would cost us around double to book via Club Class Concierge compared to the hotel's cost . We were promised cashback at the end of five years, but we never received the certificate promised.....Luckily we paid deposit by credit card and I took out legal cover on our household insurance. The unfortunate part about all this is that once you have been caught by these scammers, you know where to look on the internet for other people's bad experience. Unsuspecting folk going on holiday need to be informed! Hopefully this will be resolved for us shortly.

Just Thought Id Write This Follow up To Entry #5. Its Taken About 6 Weeks But I Have Managed To Charge Back My Deposit To Club Class Cons Via My Credit Card Company, And Today Our Timeshare Title Deeds Where Returned To Us In The Post. I Consider Myself Very Fortunate And I Am Gratefull For The Help And Advice Received From The Timeshare Consumers Association I Followed There Advice To The Letter And It Worked. Its been an unpleasent experience that I wouldnt like to repeat, but I just hope that the letters to the Britsh and Spanish Consumers associations can help to bring these Scammers to Justice, or at least prevent them from operating and praying on others in the future.

I won't call you any names whether you deserve it or not - just wish you good luck in cancelling. ;)
  • The one thing to remember when you come across Timeshare reps is the way to spot when they are telling lies. It is when they first open their mouth and start talking.
