I can't believe none of you moneysavingexperts watched working lunch yesterday.
Anyway as if by fate there was a article about claiming back money off of VISA debit cards, citing the case of a MaxJet customer and someone who bought a bed from a company which went bust.
The only snag is that you can only claim chargeback on transactions within 120days. But at least for all those VISA debit card users who booked (i assume) in the last 120days it does confirm to me that you should get full refunds.
Anyway watch the piece on BBC Iplayer - its episode 11/04/2008 and the piece you want to listen to is 10min25secs into the episode
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/?q=working+lunch
(and as its on iplayer the programme will be removed in 7days)
hope u all get those claim forms in
Ian
You have 120 days to claim from when you learnt they won't fulful their part of the deal !!!!! So, from April 9th according to that article in the Times.0 -
I'd never even heard of this airline until on the news we were told it had gone t*t* up:>) sorry folks.0

Moonrakerz, I have sent this is a private message to you, but thought I'd ask here too - on the off chance someone else is in a similar pickle!
I booked two flights - singles from LGW to HKG in August. My girlfriend and I are going to live out there for a few years so plumped for the one-way tickets.
I'll get the money back off MBNA - that's all fine.
But the thing that I'm not sure about is getting the credit card company to pay for the difference in a replacement flight.
It is cheaper to buy a return now than a single. I've been quoted £388 for an outward journey in August, returning in March (for a wedding). If we book this though I'm concerned we won't get the difference paid to us as it's a different type of ticket. Should I buy singles instead - despite them costing more, and then just buy a return once I'm in Hong Kong to pop back to the UK in March - as we would originally have done?
If you're able to help or offer any advice it really would be much appreciated.
Regards, Jonathan

Airfares to Honkers has been so cheap with so much capacity. Oasis going under will raise fares in the long term.
There's lots of conflicting advice from the lovely Credit Card companies who are intent on fobbing off and protecting their bottom line. No point speaking to reps on phones. People should send the CC company a recorded delivery letter outlining your claim. And after x days make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Notice how the names and pcitures of the management team have been removed from the Oasis site. Shame and face is prevalent in the Far East. The man without a signature.0 -
Hi
Reading throught this thread has been a big help! Actually it's the ONLY help reallyout there. So thanks to everyone who's contributing.
Here's my situation.
I paid for 2 return fllights (for me and a friend) an another friend's Halifax visa debit card.I paid in Aug 07 and flights were for june 08.
I've just got my friend to call up Halifax explain the situation (Oasis going into liquidation) and also got him to mention the "Visa chargeback scheme" except the guy on the other end of the line hadnt heard of it before- he said he spoke to 2 managers and they were also confused about iit- however, he has filled in a "non fraudulent- debit card ATM Transaction Query" form (which I believe someone got from inside a branch- sorry cant remeber who) and emailed it off to the relevant dept (non fraudulent). now He says that he's advised for temporary credit to be put into my friend's acc- but this is useless since i'd prefer to have it guaranteed that i get my money back- buyt this form process he said takes abt 2-3 wks, and then getting money from the copmpany takes liek 2-3 months (that what he said).
Now what I really like to ask is HOW the Visa- Debit chargeback scheme works- what's the process, as in would the bank fill in the details/ would they send a form- because they never seem confident enough to know abt this ...
Hope this all makes sense- and good luck to everyone else out there wantting their money back.0 -
